There are cheaper options that I would guess work as well or better. Enough ail passes through the front of the mitts (where cables ingress/egress). I wrap a bandanna around the handlebars to block the wind. Granted, the ventilaion may be suitable for long sporty rides as it would keep your hands from over heating, but for less brisk commuting rides your hands can get a little cold during the single/negative digit (cold) days.

Good, Inexpensive Alternative
These are handy and seem to block the wind nicely. The Velcro and zipper make installation easy, but did leave a few gaps for air to come in. Holding up nicely in 0-32F bike rides though.

Waterproof ovens
Like little waterproof ovens for my hands. Sometimes I don't even need gloves when riding below freezing. Would be 5 star but the way they are designed some cold air gets in near Velcro straps.

These are very well made. I have tried several different bar mitts and these ones work the best. They have a bit of velcro on the inside that let you securely fasten them to you bars. This simple design enhancement makes them work light years better than my old ones. They are also a nice thick neoprene material that keeps you hand nice and warm

Bar Mitts Rock!!
I've been eyeing these for years. Living on the border with Canada, just north of Niagara Falls, as you might imagine, the winters are cold and snowy. I used to go through hand warmer packs like water from a hydration bottle in August. No longer. I have ridden on 10 degree F mornings wearing just thin mechanics gloves. Bar Mitts rock. Get 'em and you'll be kicking yourself for waiting so long...

In 30 degree F. weather I can ride bare-handed and my hands stay warm. These things are a complete game-changer for winter biking.

A huge disappointment.
Unfortunately the product didn't meet any of even the basic expectations. The fitting on the handlebar wasn't any good, Barely stayed in one place even with the inner straps tight. The worst part however was the performance on ‘’cold’’ weather. On temperature of +2 Celcius for the last five days on September mornings in Winnipeg Canada, they couldn’t keep my hands warm even with my three season gloves on my hands as well !!! A huge disappointment.
