What they don't tell you

We bought two of these to control the chargers on one of our boats. When they arrtived we discovered that each remote unit unit can control two chargers, so there was an extra remote purchased for no reason. The literature indicated the mounting panel size as something like 3" * 5" - holes were cut in the ship by the carpenter to accommodate, but when the units arrived they actually had a 1 1/2" mounting hole - so plates were made. We also had to use both of them because there were two holes! Other than that they work well, are accurate and give good real time indications of the condition of the batteries without crawling around belowdecks, especially with the engines running. The cables are extendible so the units could easily be mnounted in a wheelhouse if desired. Dinged one star for lack of clarity in online data. The manuals were excellenr that came with the units.

Xantrex Truecharger 2 remote panel

Item ordered was received in a very timely manner. Unfortunately it does not work with our model of Truecharger 2. After contacting Xantrex Tech support we discovered that there have been several upgrades made in the Truecharger 2 since we purchased it a year ago, which was obviously not communicated to the vender. We shipped it back to Xantrex to exchange it for the correct model. This was nearly 2 weeks and we are still waiting for our replacement. Since Xantrex does not sell directly,I wrote suggesting that they need inform all of their suppliers about this problem. The problem could be easily solved by simply requesting the serial # of the charger so that it could be matched to the appropriate series remote panel. Xantrex has an excellent reputation for producing a quality product, the area they are the weakest in is Customer Support.

Worked as it should, love the fact I don't have to lift the engine access panel, lean down into the compartment to get a glimpse of the charge state if the batteries.

The problem I'm having with this display is it does not show the current battery status when that button is pushed. It only shows the fault status. Technical support was unable to help as he was unfamiliar with this generation display

Xantrex Remote Panel

This panel is a great improvement for those updating their battery charger monitoring. It displays three potential battery hookups, is easy to install, easy to read and definitely performs as advertised. I would strongly recommend this product if you are purchasing any of the xantrex products. It hooks up easily, has plenty of sensor cord and works perfectly.
