Works well with adjustments to reduce regeneration frequency

This softener works very well in terms of water quality but required adjustments to the hardness setting to prevent it from regenerating too often. Based on our utility water meter (which I independently checked for accuracy), my wife and I consistently use an average of 700 gallons per week, or about 100 gallons per day. Since the water from our utility is 10.5-10.8 grains per gallon, I set the hardness level to 11 on the water softener. At that setting, it regenerated every 7 days, or after removing 7700 grains, which is just 43% of its capacity. Either the water meter in the softener is reading high (cannot be confirmed since the display does not show flow rate or throughput) or the factory set point for regeneration is too low. Water softeners should regenerate at 75-80% of capacity, which would be after removing 13500-14400 grains for this softener. By adjusting the hardness setting on the softener to 7 grains per gallon, it now regenerates every 11 days. It thinks it has only removed 7700 grains but has actually removed 12,100 grains, which is 67% of capacity. Reducing the hardness setting to 6, should cause regeneration every13 days or 14,300 grains, which would be 80% of capacity, but I haven't tried that yet. The bottom line is that this softener fulfills its primary purpose but may require adjustment to the hardness setting to keep it from regenerating too often and wasting salt and water.

Water softener

I gave this 5 stars. Even though we had a nightmare with installation. The Main valve unit came stripped. But we called the tech support and they were very helpful ( have your sales information ready they need all the numbers). And are sending a replacement. Our plumbing was most of the night mare to be very honest. We went from a 1 inch to a 3/4 inch in many spots so finding the fittings was the biggest problem. If you have those it really is easy and our water heater and pump were all in the correct locations so we didn't have to change any of that. So from the instructions it looked very easy. The unit is small and I have been using it for a week now and it is set on 7 ( I think someone else said that was the perfect number so we went with that). Works great. It cost me about 200.00 for installation ( Shark Bites are not inexpensive). But the help we got over the phone was great and I would buy this unit again.

Must Have

We have well water and this is a must for us. Our old unit failed about a month ago and we sure noticed it. This system was easy to install with just a couple of pipe adjustments of my water lines. It has been working with no issues and it is silent except when it runs the flush cycle. We would buy again. 5 STARS

Excited to Use!

I am currently building a house out in the country and it will be on a well with hard water, so I wanted to make sure to get a water softener. It will probably be at least 6-7 more months before install, but I will update the review if there are any issues with it.
