Very sturdy and dishwasher safe. She wanted these for Christmas for family gatherings. She loves them.

Good for price value.
Really liked the materials and texture of the whole set, the design looks good, however I’m not a huge fan of how the cups look. Feels sturdy enough and durable, we’ll see how it goes. The only thing I did not like, is how it gets SUPER hot if you use it in the microwave, you cannot even touch the plates as they get even hotter than the actual food, so keep that in mind.

Absolutely love
I was so hesitant at first to purchase this set because of the price. It was 100% worth the buy though. The cups makes me feel like I’m a Viking drinking ale or something, and I freaking love that. Would and probably will purchase again to have a full set of 8. They are sturdy, microwaveable and add so much beauty to my wooden Jesus table.

These are beautiful!
The design is elegant in its simplicity. The mugs are comfortable to hold, especially with arthritis. We have received so many compliments.

stoneware,dinnerware
this stoneware dinner set is nice in some ways and in some ways not so much lets start by how elegant and vibrint the coloer is the set feel strong and sturdy.they can handlebeing put on the back of stove to warm up and to keep food hot while you are cooking.now the washing some food may sometimes get stuck on the outside in some of the pits and groves.some of the areas are thiner in some spots.

Unique, but Overpriced, Set
Summary: A really unique dinnerware set. Feels light yet strong. They're noisier than sealed porcelain. Underside is chalky to start and gets better with washing. Purple color is unique but looks odd with many foods. Price seems quite high, even compared to Stone Lain's other options. The listing images accurately reflect the color of the set, though I think they could use some images that better illustrate their appearance in a real setting. The dishes feel light yet strong. The plates are thinner than others in my cabinet. The way they stack makes it more difficult to retrieve a single plate from the cabinet than the rimmed porcelain plates with gaps between them. The color glaze stops at the bottom of the dishes, making these plates look unique and handcrafted. The unglazed undersides of the plates were quite chalky at first. My roommate was not a fan of the texture and would hold the plates at the sides to avoid touching it. After a few washes in the dishwasher the underside felt way smoother and sealed. The plates are also quite chatty. Harder food and utensils squeak against the plate during a normal meal. Stacking the plates in a cabinet makes a stone-on-stone gritty grinding sound. This is my first stoneware set, so I'm not sure if this is just how stoneware is. I found a few blemishes on the surface of a few plates (see image). Almost like a bubble when curing or firing the plates. The blemishes were in about the same spot across plates. Of course it doesn't have any impact on using the plates for their intended purpose, but I'm surprised to see these sorts of cosmetic defects on a set of this price. The cups are interesting. I wish they were taller. I find myself refilling two or threes times during a meal. If they were the height of a pint glass I think they would be perfect. My brother called them caveman cups because of their rough, rocky appearance. I think they look cool. The bowls are my new favorite for cereal. They've got good diameter, depth, and have slightly conical walls. They stack decently well but still take up a lot of room in the cabinet. Green foods, like a salad, look good with the light purple color. The simple steak and potatoes not so much. At the time of review the price for this set was $172.47, which I think is really high. It's probably because they have a name attached to the design. I didn't see any indication in the listing that this set is indeed handcrafted or even glazed by hand, so it's hard to justify the high price in my opinion. Stone Lain has other stoneware sets, nearly all of them less expensive than this set, with more applicable designs and colors.

High quality stoneware. Liked everything except the color!
I don't usually order purple stoneware but when offered the chance to try this set, I decided to live adventurously. I do love stoneware and collect it. I have many sets in storage that only see the light of day when I take them out for a special occasion or a specific table setting. Tablescapes are my jam. Thus far, I have not owned purple stoneware, so I guess I thought: why not? This set answered that question. Basically, I believe I would have maximized my enjoyment of this Stone Lain set had I received it in literally any of the other colors (but especially beige, black, or green). I tend to prefer natural and neutral earth tones. This stoneware set has made it a point to incorporate organic textures, but I feel that the chalky purple kind of detracts from it and is the wrong color to bring out the design. I hoped to like the color in person but I am not the hugest fan. That is not to say I won't try to use the set somehow. Color aside, this is a high quality set. It's well made, beautiful, and sure to impress any guests. The style of stoneware makes it suitable for both formal and casual meals, and so, I think this is a great investment if you plan to have this as your main set. I especially appreciated the size of the bowls. So many of these types of sets come with the tiniest bowls that are good for very little. These bowls are a fantastic size for everyday use - for a wide variety of things (cereal, ramen, soups, fruit, ice cream, etc.). The cups are really nice for drinking cold brew or iced coffee out of. Should you get the purple set, pairing the stoneware with simple matte gold flatware with clean lines elevates the look quite a bit. I found that silver looks quite dull next to the purple. If you do like this shade of purple, then I would highly recommend this Stone Lain set with no reservations. If you are hesitant at all about the purple like me, then I would still recommend this Stone Lain set - just in one of the other colors!
