Could use a metal cap so I added one ...

I wish this bump head knob came with a metal protective cap so the metal rather than the plastic would hit the ground when you bump it. Then it wouldn't wear out anywhere near as fast as the unprotected plastic. But since it does not come with a metal cap I added my own ... I sanded the bottom of the cap a bit to roughen it up, then I used an angle grinder to rough up one side of a quarter. Then I glued them together with 5 minute epoxy, making sure that the quarter was centered and flat/level. So far so good! Now I have a metal bump cap that can withstand tons more abrasion because the part that hits the ground is metal, not plastic. Seems like it might "make sense" for a manufacturer to sell them like this, rather than requiring me to make my own. But apparently they want to keep selling this part over and over again. So with any luck this may be the last one I ever need to buy ... :)

Perfect String Bump Head ...

Totally Awesome! The string trimmer bum head knob installed perfectly and I would recommend this item to anyone who needed to replace their string bumper head. I was so surprised as to the amount of wear my old bumper head had when I ordered and replaced the new one. I am very pleased with this product and the service... delivery time when I made the order. Perfect fit

My old Ryobi Trimmer Plus dies a few years back, but I still use the attachments with my new one. The big box stores don't seem to carry the parts for my older model anymore. It looked right in the photo and when I received it the fit was perfect. I may have to order a couple spares. Since I edge along a corner lot with a sidewalk all the way around I burn through these in a single season.

Product is perfect fit. I cannot attest that the "bump line advance" works or not. But this feature on the original factory knob hasn't worked in ages either.
