If you want Original BIN, this is ADVANCED

I had been using the original BIN to prime old stained oak trim, but my local retailer was out of stock and I was thrilled to find on Amazon. But I didn't look closely enough to see this was actually the ADVANCED formula. I had read other reviews about tannin bleed through w/ Advanced. I used two coats of this Advanced on my old oak trim I was painting. The second coat looked like a yellow bleed through to me. I was not willing to take the chance of a bleed through on my final product so I found original BIN in stock at a different local retailer, purchased it and finished my project. Although this ADVANCED went on thicker and was easier to work with than the ORIGINAL, I think the original worked better for my project (no tannin bleed through) . Note: The only time I have not been pleased with ORIGINAL is when I used it in the bathroom (primed ceiling and walls). My ceiling is now a crinkly mess. Had I read reviews before using in bathroom, I would have selected another variation. Long story short, I prefer ORIGINAL for priming stained wood, not ADVANCED

Works well

I used this because it is water based, and has no issues with combustion. I sprayed this with an Airless Spray, coverage is very good, levels fairly well. I noticed it does not sand as well as the original BIN. Did a scratch test, with a nickel and I'm impressed with the adhesion. Works better then some other high priced water based primers I have used. Sprayed 38 Kitchen and Built In doors so far, looking good.

Did realize there were different grades.

Much thinner that what I bought at the hardware store. Then realize the product number was different. Live and learn.

It ain't what you think!!

DO NOT buy this if you use and love B-I-N. This is NOT B-I-N!! It's a totally different animal. B-I-N (the good stuff) is thin, sticky, dries super fast, works marvelously well. This is thick (like house paint), cleans up with soap and water, and if it's dry by tomorrow morning I'll let you know how well it sticks and sands. I hope it does a halfway decent job. I bought this thinking it was the B-I-N I always use. Boy!! Was I mistaken....and extremely disappointed. It would've been better to market this under a completely different name.

Best synthetic shellac primer

I found this synthetic shellac primer (water based) to use to prime my kitchen cabinets because of the smelly shellac found in oil primers. It went on very smooth and the paint adhered beautifully. One draw back, you won’t find it at Lowe’s, Home Depot or any hardware store in Texas. You’ll have to order it through Amazon or any available online store that has it.

Best primer for cabinets

I'm in the process of painting the interior of a 24 year old motorhome. This is THE BEST primer...it adheres to anything and, with two coats, there is no bleed through from the wood. This primer is worth the extra money!!
