Probably best gate on the market
This is probably the best gate on the market. It is beyond sturdy. It has an incredibly easy to open latch. It has an full length hinge that adds great stability. It swings in two directions. The only “bad” thing about it is that it has a very industrial look. I set it up (it was easy) and then we sat looking at it for a few days and decided it didn’t go with our very traditional 1920s built farmhouse style home. I then proceeded to shop for a replacement. What I found was that there really are no gates as solidly built and with the I-can’t-say-enough wonderful latch. We then sat for a few more days and even thought about painting it. That is how amazing it is. In the end, we had to surrender to the home style and take it down. It it were in any less central location of our home, I would be keeping it. Some other random comments: In our 36” doorway the way the door adjusted the were 4 slats that overlapped - this made about a third of the gate one solid view of aluminum - probably one reason it clashed so much Ignore the complaints about the index adjustments not allowing flexibility. The gate comes with 2 additional filler bars that slide between the hinge and the mount that screws into the wall. Between these 2 fillers and the slight spacing variation that the latch allows you can meet your specific measurement. Yes the directions stink. They are 100% diagram. If you can’t handle that you might have trouble, but it doesn’t take a genius. Just spend some time (like 5-10-15 minutes) put the gate down on the floor and putting the brackets and fillers along side it. Open up the locking mechanism on the gate and practice. You have to open them on BOTH sides and top and bottom to slide the gate wider or narrower. READ the table telling you if you need 0, 1 or 2 filler bars. It it very specific. Use a level to ensure your hinge mount is perfectly vertical. My note to the manufacturer - please work this up in a more traditional style.

Seems like quality has slipped significantly
I've had many of these Gates over the years this is probably my fifth or sixth one. In the past they've always worked great and they've held up fantastic which is rare for gates in my experience. However there seems to be a lack of overall quality control on this latest purchase. The side bracket was incredibly difficult to sign in and out and every time I did it was scraping plastic out of the joint. After forcibly going up and down several times it loosened up a little but it still is incredibly difficult to take in and out which shouldn't be the case and isn't the case on any my other older units. Also the actual end metal beans on the gate itself at the end where they were cut or not filed or sanded down to a smooth edge they are Jagged and sharp I had to manually use a Dremel tool to take some of the burrs off so they wouldn't scrape or cut somebody's finger. For the cost of this unit I'm very disappointed. Give me wrong it's still works just as well as the other ones but for this price I expected a better fit finish and this one just missed the mark completely. hopefully it's just one bad unit and I got it dud. But it's concerning that I've been buying the same model for many years and all of a sudden the latest one has all these issues that I never had on the previous units.

Parts are very tight, but that means it's a quality item
We have always used cheap expandable doggy doors in our home and typically step over them instead of bending over to remove them. Two weeks ago my poor wife mistimed her step and had a nasty fall. Thus began the search for a quality doggy door with a hinge. We chose this item and I installed it today. It took me an hour to install this using the instructions, and it would have been fine for most folks. However, for the width of my door I needed to use every included "spacer" part and this lead to too many joints and too much play. The door sagged away from the hinge and was 1/4 out of level. So, I started over, reengineered everything, and managed to install it without the two skinny spacers and only the adjustable bar opposite the hinge.. Thankfully the adjustable part is put together with screws. I was able to disassemble it, mill it in several areas to become 1/4 inch narrower (than the minimum adjustment), and this is what I needed for a perfect fit. In an era of glue, cheap plastic, and unserviceable goods...it's refreshing to see a company build something that can be easily modified. The total install (including a magnetic door catch to keep it open at night) took four hours. Some of the tracks (one in particular) was SOOOOO tight that I couldn't get it to slide all the way in and it needed to be removed carefully with a block and hammer. Some filing, sanding, and lube corrected the issue. Most would complain about this, but I'd rather it be too tight and workable than too loose. The door/gate is nice, constructed of heavy aluminum (much like mid-quality camping gear), and I expect it to last many years. Time will tell. The plastic seems to be of high quality. I recommend this product if you are tired of cheap doggy doors that require a lot of fiddling for every day use. Be aware that if you want it to be installed properly, you will need to be handy, have tools, and have spare time. The end results are worth the trouble.

It fits the aesthetics of our house much better than any other gate I've seen
This is the second one of these gates that I've purchased for my home. The quality on these gates is outstanding! It fits the aesthetics of our house much better than any other gate I've seen, has a very satisfying latch with 2 connection points, and most importantly, has no trip-hazard bars along the floor. The hinge swings in both directions which was important to me, as I have put both of these at the tops of stairs and trying to maneuver around awkward gate openings while on stairs can be really tricky. With the self-leveling wall connectors, installation is straightforward for anyone handy enough to use a drill and a level. The gate adjusts easily in width to match your doorway opening. Highly recommended!
