Works great! See up date ????
Update: she figured it out and got it open ????‍♀️????‍♀️. It still a well made gate. My Luna, a German shepherd, is an escape artist. She hasn't been able to get this gate open. It locks into place, but also easy to remove when needed be. It does attract to the wall. Buy longer screws. I didn't get the instructions or template that was supposed to be with it. I did look up the instructions on line. My husband is very good at figuring out measurements. So all is good.

Great Gate If you have the right opening
Gate works fantastic - if you have the right sized opening. We bought it to use in a standard 48" pass through between a kitchen and dining area. The gate does not work for that. It either is too short (with bolts extended to falling out) or it is too long (with bolts all the way in and the locking nuts removed). I ended up using a 3D Printer to print extension plates for the bolt catch and rest on the opening side. Had to space them off the wall by nearly 1/2" for it to work. The bolt at the top wants to flex all the time now because it is nearly all the way out but it does the job.

Best solution for the top of our stairs
We have a unique situation where we had a 52" opening at the top of our stairs to use for a solid mountain surface (didn't want to mount to wooden newel post on one side). This gate solved that issue and once installed my wife and I both agree it's a solid gate our toddler will not be able to work his magic on. Pros: - Taller than most gates (again helping us from an avid climbing/curious toddler) - Wide enough to span our large area at the top of our stairs - *Sturdy - *A major caveat is that I had to get higher quality screws as the tiny little #6 screws they provide are too short and thin to be able to mount this into studs as others have mentioned (plus they would snap if using an impact driver). I upgraded to #8 2" screws and those mounts aren't going anywhere. The only mount that needed modification was the upper mount on the hinge side, as the #8 screw heads were too big to fit the recessed openings as is. A couple passes with the dremel and a sanding wheel opened them right up. - Plenty of adjustment for installation - It provides enough adjustment where you can install the lower mounts over your baseboard and the upper against the drywall which saves having to install a filler block or some sort to match the baseboard on the uppers. - Easy to use - Once you get used to the one handed opening and closing, it's a pretty smooth operation and swings freely. The pivoting hinge works nicely to get the gate in and out of the secure latch. - No bottom bar to trip over. When it's open, it's open completely. Cons: - While the shipping box looked to be in good shape, I had to bend back one or two of the vertical bars (luckily the welds didn't snap which actually made me a bit happy knowing it could take some toddler abuse). - Continuing on the above, there were quite a few paint chips and dings in the gate, some pretty noticeable while I was able to hide or work around others. Time will tell if the paint finish will hold up or if the company/shippers were just extremely rough with it. Wish List: - It would be nice if the width of the gate was adjustable without having to manually lock the width in place based off of the bar increments. What I mean is while we want this closed at night so our toddler can't wander down the stairs, we don't want to have to open and close it when my wife and I need to go upstairs when he is downstairs (with a gate at the bottom of the stairs as well). So if there was some type of mechanism to lengthen/shorten the gate like a push button or handle to change it as you open/close it if necessary. This would avoid having to remove the gate (which is pretty easy for the most part) and store in the hallway when not in use as then we would be able to just open it up, shorten it up and swing it out of the way. All in all it's a good solid gate that works for our stairs. We will see what type of punishment it can withstand after a few months of our little guy trying his best to conquer it. I'm feeling confident things will end up in our favor.

Good Gate, But Buy Your Own Screws
I love this gate, but hate the screws and drywall anchors they included. I have one at the top of my stairs and one at the bottom by my laundry room. These gates have worked really well at containing my kids, but I'm handy and I spent a few hours carefully installing them. This gate is heavy enough that you should always mount it into studs, especially because kids WILL hang on it. If you must mount it to drywall, do NOT use the flimsy anchors they include. Use something MUCH stronger, like toggle bolts. I recommend using bigger screws. The included screws are about one inch long. Since most drywall in the US is about 1/2 inch thick and the plastic mounting brackets are between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick, you will have at MOST 3/8 inch of screw inside a stud. I personally used screws that were about 1 3/4 inch long and a little thicker, but I also needed to mount through a 1/2 inch baseboard, so I still only have about 1/2 inch to 5/8 inch of screw in the stud. In my pictures you can see that I added some 1/2 inch spacer boards behind the upper mounts to match the spacing of the baseboards. I also added two extra screws mounting those boards to the studs to increase the strength of the gate. The gate itself is sturdy and can be opened with one hand, but is hard for my kids to open. The triangular latch swings to the side so you can pull the gate up. It takes some practice to open it with one hand and the spring is strong enough that people with problems like arthritis will have a hard time with the latch. Also, you have to lift the gate to close it. If you just swing it shut the gate will bounce off the latch. PROS: -Sturdy (the gate, not the included mounting hardware) -Can be used at the top of the stairs (if mounted in studs, not drywall) -Hard for my kids to open -Can be opened with one hand (with practice) -Can be set to open one direction, or both directions -Very adjustable (Fine adjustment is possible with an included wrench.) CONS: -Included screws and drywall anchors are too short and feel flimsy (buy your own screws) -Not easy to install correctly (unless you are handy) -The latch takes practice to open one handed and may be too stiff for some people -The gate will not auto-latch. You have to lift it to latch it.

Very large gate
Very tall, would work perfect to keep a large dog out. Fits my 52inch wide doorway and still could extend even larger. Gate doesn't have a door in the center like I thought, swings open from one end.
