Must Have

This product is a must have. I hated boiling a pot of water, not knowing exactly when the eggs were "ready", and then wondering if this "as seen on social media" hack would have them peel correctly. With this gadget, there's no heavy pot of water or guessing if they are ready! Simply follow the directions, pour the small amount of water, click it on, let it cook, beep, it's ready, turn it off, put in cold water for a few, VIOLA! Perfect eggs, easy peel, easy clean up, and a small space to store. This tool is a must have. I was so impressed, I ordered one for my dad (who has a hand disease and can't lift heavy pots of water/typically struggles to peel the eggs) and my 2 siblings. All have been impressed, as well. My sister texted me the other day...”Why do I have the urge to want to make eggs every day?" ???? Order yours today, it will not disappoint!

It works!

All the eggs cook consistently. They peel easier than any of my boiled eggs ever have. It’s very convenient. My only complaint is the heating element you Pour the water on developed rust spots the very first time I used it.

Pretty dang good!

I've always hated boiling eggs because of the timing, etc. This makes it easy. I've done two or three hard boiled at a time. Beeps loud when done so you won't forget about your eggs. Definitely do an ice bath after if you want easy peeling. Only knocked off a star because if you lose the specified water to timer cup, you're boned. I wish maybe it came with a backup cup?

A great concept -makes great eggs

I use mine all the time to make deviled eggs. I would give five stars, but sometimes the eggs will turn brown at the bottom from the water and the the bottom of the steamer gets like a discolored Brown and it doesn’t come off. I would definitely buy again though. I bought one for my daughter-in-law and one for my daughter for Christmas. They make boiling eggs very convenient.

Need to be there to watch it, constantly needs water and attention!!

I was very happy to recieve this unit because of its perceived simplicity and not having to poke a hole in the egg like some units on the market. The tradeoffs: 1. Is it is no "real" timer or cutoff of the unit. All has to be watched, monitored and water needs to be added, even after the first "buzzer goes off. 2. The writing on the cup is very confusing and washed off quickly. So unless you take a picture of when you first open the package( I did) water levels will mean nothing. 3. The unit gets real hot and the top steams out. Please turn to the side, not to get a blast of steam to your face. Top has a little plastic piece that gets wet and very hard to grip to add more water or check your progress, (i e. If you are steaming vegetables )-a benefit for me.You need to have on a oven mit or use a towel to pull off slowly so you do not get blasted with hot steam. 4. I have not tried to make poached or omelette eggs with the unit, but it does make perfect hardboiled eggs quickly. I have not tried doing 14 eggs, only 7 at the most 5. Only for my steamed vegetables and hardboiled eggs do I really even use it any more. I have used trial and error to get my unit to work for me. 6. I would recommend a timer cutoff if I had it to do over again. Hamilton beach needs to incorporate that suggestion in future upgrade models. Great idea and concept, but needs more attention to detail, cup where the writing does not vanish, better safety and better overall instructions. I would consider buying again, if those things were added and upgraded. I love the fact that I do not have to pierce egg and just place all in the appliance. Big selling point for me. Get the other items addressed and you have a winner. Real talk. Hope this helps in your buying decision. All be blessed, safe, healthy, happy, prosperous and great!!

practical little gizmo

I bought this on a whim because it was cheap and I wanted something that could cook boiled eggs without waiting for the water to boil (traditional stove top way). At this price I wasn't expecting much but I've used Hamilton Beach products before and liked all of them. First of all, it's small. I mean really small and that's a plus because it takes so little space in the kitchen. It looks kind of cool as well (modern if you will). I've only had it for 2 days and I have not tried the poacher but it cooked hard boiled eggs to perfection. I filled the plastic goblet to the #4 level of water for 3 hard boiled eggs and they turned out perfect the first time. Time for cooking 3 eggs was exactly 12 minutes from plugging the unit on until the audible alarm sounded indicating that the cooking was done (it's not really an alarm but more like a small bell sound and it should be louder IMHO). On the stove top, I would have to wait at least 8-9 minutes just for the water to boil and another 10 minutes for the eggs to cook so I figure this little gadget is a good time saver. It's super easy to clean as well. The instructions are clear. On the bottom of the water goblet, there is a plastic cap that can be removed revealing a steel pin. There is absolutely no mention of this or its purpose in the instructions in English or French. One small observation about the unit : It mentions in the instructions to plug it in and then switch it on and off after use. On mine the switch seems to do nothing. If I plug it in, the red light automatically lights up and the unit starts. When the bell rings, the light stays on even if I push the switch to turn the power off. I simply unplug it when the bell rings to indicate that there is no water left in the tray. Is the switch faulty ? I don't know. It works as is and I'm not even sure why a switch is needed.

This little Hamilton Beach Egg Cooker is so cute and economical. Works fantastic. No need to fill a pot with water and put it on the stove. It takes up little space and is so easy to clean. Most importantly it has a build in timer so you don’t forget. Quick and easy.
