Sturdy and safe
This is a good platform to use if a step into a home is a bit too high for someone to safely step. It bridges the gap with enough room to place both feet on it for improved balance and safety.

Helps with a too tall step - sturdy and secure
I'm a short person and have one short-legged dog and one medium dog. Stepping out the back door to the patio was hard on my bad knees (don't know why they have to make that step so high, not everyone is six feet tall!), so I put a half concrete block there as a step. It was just to small impart any sense of security. I put this step in place several weeks ago and it has worked out great. I feel more secure stepping down and the short-legged dog uses every time she goes out. The medium dog uses it, but she can just jump over it into/out of the house it she wants to. I'm careful to step in the middle and not on the edge as recommended and so far it has held up very well and is stable. I question whether it would take a hard impact such as a heavy person (or large child) jumping down on it, but since no one weighs anywhere near the weight limit and no such acrobatics are likely to take place in my house, I'm not too worried about it breaking. My short legged dog likes it and uses it going in and out. My medium size dog uses it even though she doesn't need it. Glad I bought it. Update: 1/16/23 Thought I would provide a two-year anniversary update. The step is still going strong and gets used multiple times a day by my short-legged dog (medium dog still has no need for it) and me. It stays outside 24/7 and so far, other than getting a little dingy from dirty dog feet, it is in good condition. It doesn't get rained on unless there is a blowing storm; when it does get wet, it isn't slippery but I'm still careful. Our Mississippi winters are mostly in the 50's and 60's, but we do have sporadic freezing nights and days, but I have not seen any cracking. If you need a little step to offset one with a high rise, this will probably work for you. Me and my bad knees are very happy with it.

Help with mobility
Bought for walk in shower entery. It may not be sturdy enough for heavier people.

Good size and stable
The step from the garage to the house was 10 inches high, that was hard on my knees and my hip. This 4 inch tall platform makes the transition a comfortable step. It is also large enough that one does not have to be super careful to find it when walking. (Smaller steps require watching to be sure you step on it.) The surface is hard on bare feet but otherwise I am delighted with the step.
