Great pouch for the beach!
Love the multiple compartments and the versatility to carry by waist band or shoulder strap

Nice for traveling
This was a last minute impulse purchase before a 10 day trip to Europe. Originally I got it to use on all day outings when I would be carrying more than the usual stuff I'd put in a pocket. But by the end of the trip, I was going full on man-purse/murse carrier and using it all the time. Very convenient! It was great at the airport and I'll never fly without this again. For being out and about, it was perfect for when you have a little more than you can comfortably stuff in your pockets or you just want easier (and a bit safer) access to stuff like your wallet or phone. Its not big but it will easily hold a wallet, sunglasses and a Kindle with a bit of room left. Its not nearly big enough to carry even a small bottle of water though. I found it very useful for getting stuff out of my pockets or carrying a bit of extra stuff. Carrying a murse definitely marks you as a tourist but I also felt it was safer and easier to protect from pick pockets etc. Some of the reviews seem to knock this thing for being small. It is definitely not big, but that's a feature not a defect. This is a pants pocket expander/substitute, not a mini knap sack. For outings where you need to actually pack something like a bottle of water or some food beyond a single clif bar, you'll want to look at something bigger.

A useful sling bag
I bought this sling bag twice from this seller (different color) the size is perfect, not too small, not too big. I can’t go out without this bag to get on MTA subway. Btw, it’s super fast delivery fir this bag, I’m happy.

Not as comfortable as the design suggests
I purchased this in hopes it would solve my conundrum on what to bring for short hikes or longer walks with my dog. I have cheaper, smaller fanny packs but they are uncomfortable as a cross-body pack. I use a hands-free leash so ideally any fanny pack I buy should be comfortable to wear cross-body. Mountainsmith is a great outdoor gear company, but this didn't cut it for my needs so I returned it. The nylon webbing is slick. Combined with lack of padding, there is little friction against your shirt so it moves far too much with any weight in the pack. This is ultimately why I returned it. I thought the intuitive design of having one strap attached to the top of the pack would make this more ergonomic, but it always slid down to its lowest point when worn cross-body. In that position it bounces a lot when you walk. With a smaller fanny pack you can get it tighten it enough to where the pack sits in the middle of your chest or back, reducing bounce. I wasn't able to do that with the Knockabout, it always rotated down no matter how much I tightened the straps. The rear pocket is almost useless because it is secured by one small velcro patch. At minimum that patch should be wider or have multiple patches. Or just make it a zipper. I would not ever trust that pocket to hold something valuable like a phone, which they advertise as its main use. The 610d Cordura and the interior organization are the superlatives of this pack. For such heavy duty fabric it doesn't feel stiff or heavy. The light blue zippers also give great visibility contrast while looking cool against the slate gray. The last issue I had was this pack lacks versatility, contrary to their advertisement claims. It is uncomfortable and clunky to wear purely as a fanny pack given the off-center placement of the webbing. Additionally, the webbing isn't removable and there are no webbing or velcro attachments on the rear to clip onto a backpacking or something else. Compare this to the Mountainsmith Sidekick fanny packs which are smaller in volume but have pass-through webbing with a removable strap, plus vertical velcro straps and front webbing for small attachment. This pack can be attached to backpacks, bikes, etc., while the Knockabout is extremely limited in its usefulness.

Mine was not as advertised
In 2017 I purchased a Mountain Smith waist pack. It was of incredible quality. Now, in 2022, after extensive daily use, the zipper fabric is breaking. So, I was eager to purchase again. The simple waist pack that I wish to replace is no longer available. This lumbar pack is closest. When mine arrive, the material was the same color, but not quite as nice fabric. The shoulder strap was way too short, and I am a small person. I would not be able to wear this way. No way to make longer. Also, several of the features advertised in the video were missing from my huckleberry pack. I returned. Still looking to match what I initially purchased 5 years ago. I really wish that companies like Mountain Smith would stop trying to "improve" their products. The product was perfect before.

It's perfect
First off, the color! I love it. It's a deep red wine color and looks great with so much in my closet. It's a great size, fits my wallet, keys, phone with some room left over. I didn't want a large bag so this is perfect. I wanted a waist pack I could use around my waist, or cross body. It looks fine around the waist but I think it really shines cross body. I showed it to a co-worker who now wants to get one for herself. I would totally recommend this. I should add, it's really for around town type of errands. I am not sure it's for hiking. There is no place for a water bottle so maybe a day hike if you want to carry your water in hand. I love it.

Not to small or too big - good for around town or walks
Using it for walking the dog or longer walks around town or park. Good size for essentials. Using it as shoulder bag. Build quality is very good.

I love this bag but I replaced the strap
This is the second of these bags I have bought. The first one is going strong I just wanted a different color (my old one from REI is red). I have replaced the strap on both bags with a silky strap since the plastic-y strap will rip up soft and delicate clothing and I wear this all the time. I use the same hardware and strap design just replace it with a silky nylon strap that looks/feels like a seatbelt It is great for travel and day to day use. It is a really good size and I like the amount of compartments. I can fit a small water bottle if the bag is mostly empty. Cons: The strap it comes with is very uncomfortable The Velcro closure pocket on the back is not very useful, would have preferred a zippered pocket
