A great lock - loud but functional

Overall, great product! We're very happy to have a keypad-secured deadbolt, and love that it has the key option as a back-up in case good old technology fails. The color is very close to what's pictured. Much of the other "oil rubbed bronze" or "antique bronze" in our entryway is a darker, closer to blackish color, but this one is very much bronzy, just like the photo. We like that the handle is separate from the deadbolt piece, and it's obviously as secure as can be. My hubby installed and had no complaints with following the directions and getting it in place. Our biggest reasons for knocking it by 1 star are that it is pretty darn LOUD as it locks and unlocks, and it seems a little finnicky in registering the buttons you push. You do need to be slow and methodical in entering the code for it to register... sometimes if you rush or don't push firmly enough, it doesn't work and makes you re-enter. That being said, our 5 1/2 year old has no problem using it, even if she has to re-enter the code slowly a couple times - so we're happy about that. If you try to turn the knob in the midst of the "unlock" function happening, it freezes it up and you need to let it clear and re-enter from step 1. One last thing that we found pretty nice is if someone enters the incorrect code several times (maybe it's 3? Can't say for sure) a gentle little alarming beeping tone goes off from the inside. Not loud enough to wake you up but loud enough to hear if you're in the same room. Overall, we're happy with the product and very pleased for the price!

Always have your key on you.

The convenience of the no key is great......the problem is. 1. You will run through batteries like crazy, and well if yours is like mine it will decide to not completely retract leaving just enough deadbolt to lock you out. Im a landlord and have changed plenty of locks but with the % chance you will get in to your house its not worth it. 2. Not all the LED's light up on the pad and yes i had to get a ladder to get into the back of my house because the damn thing decided not to retract completely. Most times it does but 8 out of 10 times is not why i bought a keyless lock. This could be just mine...not sure, but based off of the product i received I absolutely would not pay for this again.

It works... but barely with Alexa.

Don't get me wrong, alone the lock is great. It is more getting it to work with Alexa. The insteon app is one of the worst i ever used and having it unlock with Alexa is impossible to set up without customer support. The support staff was great though. The batteries last about 1 to 2 months. If you are not using a key or have one you could be locked out if you let the batteries lasp. As a free punch code with remote though, works great.

Great product, smooth and easy.

Was easy to install. Have had just over 2 months. I did have to change the batteries after the first 2 months. So not sure if I will be changing every two months or not. 3 adults in household although son should be going off to college again soon so hopefully battery use will decrease. We mainly use the fobs to unlock. Ordered extra fobs and they work just as well as the one that came with door knob. Easy to unlock and door handle opens smoothly and easily.

Functions OK but...

The deadbolt latch mechanism is under strong tension so that locking and unlocking action is quite noisy. Be sure to locate the deadbolt strike plate accurately so the deadbolt is not obstructed in any way when it plunges into the hole. The remote works good. The build is OK.

Somewhat easy to install except the code entry. It wouldn't let us enter our own code so we use the key.
