Good product for the reasonable price
Marking are hard to read

Ok
Fits the description given. Gotta really tighten it after a few uses.

It’s alright.
Bit expensive for what it is but it’s solid and works well. Set screw is firm so you won’t really have to worry about it shifting on you while you are using it but at the same time I have found that if you put need to swap to a bunch of measurements all the time the hex key set screw will be tedious and the hash marks on the side are hard to see in bright sunlight.

It looks and feels like a good tool. But with one big problem the scribe point sucks a@s
The scribe point just won’t leave a mark on cold rolled steel, I have to use blueing to maybe see it barely. It would probably work sort of on copper or aluminum but not for very long.

NOT AN ACCURATE TOOL
For basic scribing it will be okay but the ruler on the rod is almost invisible. Use a good ruler. To make it worse and more inaccurate the pin on mine is bent. No biggie, I’ll straighten it. You get what you pay for.

Not the best but it works
Not bad for the price. It's a little fussy as the shaft easily rotates which swings the point out of square. Make sure the adjustment screw is against the flat part of the shaft to avoid this. There are very faint marks to measure, but they are not labled, and are all the same size so measuring is a little difficult. I believe the marks are imperial at 1/16"

Need a second tool to make 1 tool work.
I couldn't trust the accuracy of this thing because tightening the screw with my fingers was apparently not enough, I had to be extremely careful using this to make sure it didn't slide forward or backward making 1/2 inch an inch and a half. If I had a small Allan wrench it would have worked fine I assume, but I didn't.

Great scribe but...
The marking pin seems to be loose and keeps falling out every time I try to use this tool. I think it is a great tool otherwise. I ended up using a little dab of 5 min epoxy to get it to stay in place. Works fine now....until it gets dull anyway! Kind of expensive for a throw away but too much involved to try and maintain and/or fix the pin.

It scribes metal
Product Review #907 - I see a lot of geeks using their calipers as a scribe. Do you really want to hurt your poor calipers that way? Much better is a scribe, such as this one. It has a fence/guide and a pointy tip that is used to put a scratch into the material you wish to scribe/mark up. The guide in this scribe can be adjusted with a #4 hex wrench. (not included). The point is sharp and made out of hardened steel. What makes the scribing better on metal is to use a layout fluid (a blue or red ink) - you apply the ink to the surface of the metal you wish to scribe, then scribe the ink. This allows you to see the scribe lines in the ink rather than gouging deep lines in the metal. I bought this scribe from the USED selection from amazon. It was a bit beat up, so I filed it down and cleaned it up. The guide is very soft, appears to be a softer aluminum than the 6000 series and is easily dented / scratched. If you plan to do A LOT of scribing, i'd recommend to go with a more expensive scribe that has a harder material for the fence/guide, as deformations in the guide from prolonged use can cause distortions when scribing lines. Otherwise, this scribe is fine for occasional use if treated with care. DId this help? Let me know by clicking helpful.

Incomodo
