Nice, albeit a bit plastic-y

I manage my son's hockey team, and purchased these as a gift for the coaches. The entire team (15 kids) signed the mask and the coaches really liked it. I used a silver Sharpie for the signatures. Anyway, it displays really nice and the size was just right. That said... The helmet guard is plastic - not metal - not that it matters, but for some reason I assumed it would be metal. The helmet itself is plastic - but that I expected - it is very light and feels a bit cheap. The colors are excellent and it displays nicely, I'd give it 5 stars if it were just a tad more solid-y. But it does what it is supposed to do, and it does it well. Just to note, one reviewer noted the helmet being shipped is not the one photographed above. They are correct - at least for me. I'm not sure if it is the way the item is listed, but there are a couple different versions. The one I see with the feathers coming straight back (like an indian headdress) is not the one I received. There is another photo with more of a bronze-mask and a busier headdress with Blackhawks logos behind the ear holes... that is the one I received. I understand the confusion, and like them both... but to note, I did receive the later.

So Cool!

Apparently they're lumping all the different teams into one, but since I have experience only with the Pittsburgh Penguins helmet, please note that is the one I purchased. The thing is really, really cool. I had intended to keep it in my office on my desk, but the size is just perfect for a little shelf-type area on the dash of my truck, so that's where it went. While this is a miniature and cannot be used for playing hockey -- not even for kids -- the back is still constructed as though you could put it on, with elastic, etc. The material is not mask-quality tough ... just plastic ... but it looks great and is plenty tough enough to sit on a desk and be handled every so often. There are two different masks pictured on the Penguins listing. I wanted and received the black and gold one (not the one with the blue accents). My one criticism of this item is the actual paint finish is quite a bit more subdued than the photo. The golds aren't as bright on the actual product, but it doesn't take away enough from my enjoyment of it for me to take off any stars.

Just okay

Hockey mask arrived rolling around in box out of packaging. Package has a big slit in it. Doesn't look like I will be able display it without purchasing a case.

Packing was dusty and broken

The little helmet is fine, my son likes it, but the packing was all dusty and broken so that sucks for gifting reasons.

First one I ordered came with a crack in the clear plastic cover second one I ordered same thing third time was a charm and it came in perfect shape

Great detail

Great helmet, love the detail. The delivery packaging was not adequate for something that is supposed to be on display, the item came out of protection plastic and it came in a bag, not a box like it's supposed to.
