Should've Looked Better
Unboxed the trash can yesterday and was disappointed by the random scuffs on the smudgless can and on the lid. Feels like I got an open box instead of a new one. Expected that the easily scratchable lid would've been individually wrapped and protected better, but that wasn't the case. The box just had thin styrofoam on the edges, top & bottom, and the can itself was just covered in a thin, easily rippable, clear plastic bag, no tape, bubble wrap, or peelable protectors. This is an expensive trash can, so more effort should've been put into protecting it. If it was 40 bucks, I could overlook it, but it irritates me. Luckily, it didn't arrive with any dents and seems to be functioning fine, but for what I paid, wanted it to look near perfect cosmetically. Also, the wheels could've been better quality, didn't roll as smoothly as I expected, but will see. Wheels were one of the features I was most looking forward to, so I hope they'll last, but don't seem very durable. It was also difficult to put one of them in, and I was afraid it would break, but I managed.

Motion detection gone bad
I have purchased two of these and had someone else order one based on my purchase. Two of the tree purchased between us have gone bad. When you call the product assistance number, they want you to go through a whole warranty process with paperwork. I’m assuming so time will run out so they don’t have to replace. Be warned before you spend so much for a trash can. Is it worth it? I will update if they replace without hassle. As of right now, NO!

Somewhat short "lifespan" but my family insists I keep buying these!
I have purchased 4 different sizes of iTouchless cans in the last 6 years. The 1- and 8-gallon sizes are still going strong since they get less use, but results have been less than stellar for the larger models that we have used for the kitchen. My original 18-gallon model worked fine for about a year and a half, after which the gear for the raising mechanism broke (as many reviewers have noted). I went ahead and paid the $40 to buy a replacement lid and that kept going for about another year and a half. I upgraded to the larger 23–gallon model at that point and haven't had any issues (only 12 months going at this point). I like the really large capacity of the 23-gallon model; with 2 adults and 2 kids we generate a lot of kitchen trash, apparently. I haven't had any rust issues with any of the units I have purchased, even though occasionally something does get spilled inside. The fact that it rolls on casters makes it convenient to push out of the way for cleaning the floor. All in all, I like the functionality of the can. We have never had sensor issues with ours, although I will say that our largest dog has figured out how to open it by waving his snout over the top! I considered not buying a replacement when the second lid broke, but my family vehemently objected to the idea of going back to a manual trash can. I do admit I have also gotten used to the convenience of the lid opening for me. Other companies' similar cans are not the right size/shape for our needs, although I would gladly pay more for a can that would last longer. At this point, I have come to accept the fact that these cans have a certain "mechanical life," and as long as the cost-of-use for that length of time is still reasonable for me, I'll probably keep buying them.

Talk about a kitchen trash can! This sucker is awesome. The big belly and wide mouth lid swallows a dirty Chinet platter whole when tossed in. I use 55 gallon bags just to be extra, but I am sure 33 gallon black trash bags would suffice. You might as well forget about those white kitchen bags though, they can't even hold a couple of empty 2 Liter bottles let alone be worthy of lining this stainless steel wonder. The sensor works great, has the option of plugging it into the wall with an adapter (sold separately) or 'D' batteries, and you can easily turn the lid off so it's not going bonkers on you while changing the liner. Oh and it has these fresh scent filters on it to keep it from getting smelly. If you're like me though you buy so much on Amazon you take the trash out daily so that's never a problem. The casters are a nice addition when you need to sweep/mop or relocate when cooking heavily. The size is perfect in my kitchen though if it were any larger it would be too large. So... let's talk about the price tag because I know what you're thinking in the back of your head... "man this thing looks awesome but what kind of person would I be to spend $150 on a kitchen trash can." Well you know what... 'MERICA! Stop thinking about it and order it, I've done the research and you should trust me because I am a total stranger that is irresponsible with money.

Perfect Fit for our Kitchen
I looked long and hard before I found this garbage can and it is exactly what we were looking for to replace our old one. Love the large capacity and the fact that it is motion detection to keep the top clean.

Pretty good.
It's not perfect as sometimes the sensor does not pick up motion, but after 4 months it's still working which is more than I can say about other cans we have had.
