Ticonderoga memories

These pencils were all a pencil should be. Comfortable in the hand, sharpened to a good point, and easy enough to erase. I also love the brand. Every time I see a Ticonderoga pencil, I think of my AP US History teacher in high school. He was so taken by the rich history of Fort Ticonderoga and its role in the French and Indian war and American Revolutionary War that he spent WEEKS on the topic, so long, in fact, that our class never got past the middle of World War II. Two of the essays on the AP US History exam that year were about the Vietnam War. Good thing they encouraged us to do independent reading, or the entire class and exam would have been a waste.

Advertising is spot on - The World's Best Pencil!

These pencils are great! I bought them as a replacement for my favorite Black Warrior pencils, which I can no longer find anywhere, evidently they are no longer available. After using the Ticonderoga pencils, I am sold on them! They provide a super smooth writing experience with a nice grip. Also a great price for superior pencil!

Great pencils, but all broken

We have ordered these several times and love them. Unfortunately when we received the last order, the box was open a little and we have been unable to sharpen and use the pencils, all lead was broken.

BEST erasers!

The pink erasers on most pencils go hard and smear. The black Ticonderoga erasers rub-out clean and quick. The 'lead' and wood are good too. The erasers go soft in 5 years so I am buying replacements. More than worth the few bucks.

OK but ....

Having seen some poor reviews I was prepared to be disappointed with the black pencils but they are not too bad. I have used the yellow ones for drawing and find them quite good and feel quite nice and the yellow are made from cedar. The black ones, however, are not made from cedar and the finish is not quite as good but for drawing they are still OK. I would not swap a yellow (made in Mexico from cedar) for a black (made in China from ?) But hey use what you have and close your eyes!

Scratchy lead

Not to single out these pencils or anything. It seems like pencils have all of a sudden degraded in quality. Brands that used to be decent now all seem to have leads that are inconsistent and contain harder bits that make them sharpen unevenly and draw unevenly as well. Like the HB becomes 2H for a bit now and then is the only way I can describe it. For regular use it's probably no big deal but I have used Ticonderoga pencils often in the past for drawing and they just seem worse than they used to be. It's a shame because it was nice to have a pencil of decent quality without having to spend big money on the "real" art pencils. *shrug*

Lives up to the promise

I tried different pencils, this one the Ticonderoga BLACK is a great pencil. Writes smoothy, nice even black color. Sharpens well, no breakage. Great for illustrations. Bonuse, nice plastic eraser too instead of those cheaper pink ones that gets hard and ruins your work. More expensive than other pencils, but worth the extra cost.

Very cheap considering the brand

These do not hold up the same as the yellow ones. Erasers come off and they snap easily and don’t sharpen well.
