Quick verification of wiring
Used this to put ethernet in a few rooms with wires that didn't have plugs at end. Perfectly indicated mis-wire when at closer inspection, was out of order.

Works flawlessly
I really like this tester. Used the remote end on some long CAT6 runs in my house that were pre installed and worked perfectly. Recommend for anyone building their own ethernet cables.

Great little tester
Not much to add except that this works very well. I like the remote tucks into the bottom so I can't lose it. With the indications, it makes testing a breeze.

Works as hoped
I like the simple pass/fail indication. I had another type that told me too much info. Couldn’t always tell if the info meant it was a good cable or not. This Klein is super easy to use. Within a few minutes it told me two of my cables were bad. Replaced them and network problems were solved. I love this tool and the price was great.

Works, but not for normal RJ-11 Telephone wire
The Klein VDV526-100 worked okay for me, except for the one thing I needed the most at the time - it does not tell you if a standard RJ-11 Telephone cable is good or not. At first I thought it was broken, as I tested it on a new telephone cable I'd just bought. But after reading the instructions, twice, I finally really sorted through a couple of lines: "Pass Indicator light... if cable is wired straight through on RJ11 or RJ12". "Note: A Cross-Over Wired cable, RJ45 or RJ12, will flash the MISWIRE and PASS LEDs simultaneously." If you read this carefully, I believe it means that if you have the standard Telephone cable, which is what is known as reverse wired, it does not light Pass Indicator. I had thought originally the 'cross-over wired' note meant it would light Pass and Miswire, but if you read carefully it states "RJ45 or RJ12" - no mention of RJ11. Anyway, mine certainly did not indicate Pass for my new Telephone cable, just OPEN. Making it useless for normal Telephone wires. I returned it and instead bought the more expensive Klein VDV-Scout-Pro-3, which has an LCD screen that shows the actual wiring for RJ11, RJ12, RJ45 (and also coax cable). This works fine for regular Telephone cable, and for a straight through RJ11 cable I created, as it simply shows how the lines match up.

Worth every penny!
I had been working with Customer Service for a new expensive Desktop Computer that I received and they could not help me connect it to the internet. It turned out that every "new" RJ45 Cable that came with the new Computer was bad. I went through a box of my old cables and found two good ones using this Tester. It took longer to open the plastic covering the Tester than to find my problem! For 2 days my Desktop Computer was inop due to bad RJ45 cables! Buy the Tester!

simlpe easy to use
for quick check very good not so good if you need to know what end has failed so you do not need to redo the wrong end so i use this 1st then higher level tester on failed end ( for speed )

Cheap to hold and feel. Barely worked for about a week. Poor quality, don’t buy.
The item seemed ok when first used, tested less than 6 correctly terminated cables that did test out correctly using a quality piece of kit. Which this is not, I liked the idea of a simple tester for a quick assurance. But never happened as item seems like a very cheap knock off, or just a really poorly made item. Do not recommend, save your money.

It works for the most part
While it is a nice compact unit, it was frustrating to use on a badly labelled panel. Using the terminating plug at one end of a cable then having to pull and test 24 patch cords to find the right one was frustrating as after receiving the fault light which was good, it stayed on for a considerable time even with nothing attached. It would be better if it had a reset button.

Easy to use, and gives immediate response
No Fuss cable tester making it easy to fully test from one end. plug 1st terminated Cat 5/6 connector into remote dongle then terninate other end of the cable. plug in the Connector into the handset and turn on. Instant answer of connectivity. No running the battery flat like some testers.
