High Quality

Every time I’ve been offshore fishing whether it be on the flats or to a reef, the guides run Penn reels. There’s a reason for that. These reels are buttery smooth and hold up to saltwater like none other. I’ve got two penn battles and I love them. I caught a striper and a carp on it last week and I can’t wait to take with me it to the beach this year. Great reel.

Smooth and good looking reel

Very high quality reel. Plus it came with a spare spool and reel cover. I paired it with a 6' 10" H&H custom rod for speckled trout, red fish and flounder fishing. Have not had it down to the coast yet so have also been using that set up to bottom bounce for sauger. No sauger yet but have caught a five pound range freshwater drum on it. Drag is smooth. Only downside is I fell down while walking on rocks while fishing below a dam and I put a beauty mark on the edge of the spool and a scuffed the black paint (anodizing?) on the bail. Doesn't effect function but I was also a little surprised how easily it scratched.

Robust

This is my first Penn reel, I have always had Shimano's The Penn Battle reel does not have some of the features that my equivalent Shimano of the same size has but it is really heavy duty and I think will perform quite well if I am able to hook onto some bigger fish with it. I can't wait to get it out there and put it to good use.

Itll be a couple weeks yet before it gets the real deal test but from handling it, it is smooth reeling, feels very well built and is as the advertisement stated. Looking g forward to Bass fishing now!

Nice reel.

Many spin casts havea noticeable catch before the bailer wire is triggered for retreiving. This one is ever so slight but still there. Satisfied. Would not prevent me from purchasing again.

Very smooth reel!

I fitted this reel (Penn Battle II 3000) to a Ugly Stick Elite 7’ rod And have been quite happy with the two. The reel is built really well with a quality feel to the mechanisms. The bearings and gearing are very smooth and quiet. The drag adjustment works better than most as well. A fantastic reel.
