Surprisingly effective
We live in an old 1960s rental in az so it just starting to get hot it's start of May and already 100. Anyways. I was really skeptical when my husband she just said we try these. I really like natural sunlight and I laugh at this would make the one that wasn't bad. And they don't. You can barely tell what's there and they were easy to install. And there is a noticeable degree or two difference in the bedrooms. Going to buy another box cuz we had enough to cover two medium size windows and one large one. And now I need to worrying size so I need more stuff and the stuff is great.

Get These Next Fall
I've used a few of the 3m brands and they always start peeling off after a couple days. You're constantly seeing slack in the window film and retaping or trying to fix. These Duck brand ones were amazing this year, they are a little thicker than the regular ones , I had plenty of tape and film to do 8 windows but it's worth the extra $3 to pick up another roll for whatever you need. They install super easy just watch how they are folded so you stick the right side to the window frame.Don't forget to clean the window frames first, you can use ne natured alcohol personally I just used a dry paper towel on each window and it was fine. Once the plastic is up ,hit em with the hair dryer and they tighten up nicely.Keep the hair dryer a little ways away from the film they don't have to be super tight just get the ripples out and you will not have problems.

Works, slightly cloudy, buy the 15 window pack for best price
I read through some of the reviews. I've never used this type of product before even though I've always lived in pre-1950 homes, some with original windows. Just moved into a 1910 house with 14 original double hung wood sash windows and no storm windows upstairs. Lots of light, but it's December. I ordered some double hung cellular shades for a permanent improvement and decided to try these in the meantime. I agree with the reviews saying they are slightly cloudy. Not too bad though. The block the drafts. The rooms feel more comfortable. When I touch them they are cool to the touch though. So they're a help but not a solution like storm windows or cellular blinds or new windows. I wish that before putting them on, I had done foam weather stripping on the tops and bottoms of the sashes, the v shaped strip on the sides, and tightened the latches so the sashes lock tightly. Next winter if I haven't gotten storm windows I will also do that before putting them on. I agree with the reviews saying to precut the pieces. It is easier to press them down smoothly without the weight of the rest of the roll pulling on it. I read reviews complaining it's too costly. The 3 roll 15 window pack was $23 compared to $21 for the 2 roll pack and $15 for one roll, so I went with the 3. My windows to be insulated are all 30" wide, so I cut the plastic right down the center crease and doing all the windows (varying between 30-60" tall) took one and some rolls. So I have plenty left for some other windows on the other floor and basement, and cutting new pieces in future years. The adhesion seems fine. It was relatively easy to pull off the plastic if I needed to reposition but it seems to stick well enough. I am more worried about it taking up paint in the spring. Overall worth the time and energy. I'll see how the bill changes.

Freaking love this stuff
I love this stuff! It works perfectly for drafty windows - Like in apartments. Should also keep out bugs, dirt, and perhaps a light sound barrier. Installation is beyond simple. Anyone can do this, and alone. There is plenty of room for error. As it happens, I had perfect application on four 3x5 windows. Flawless. But, I want to talk about something that I've noticed a few others mention that I was curious about myself. (I got on here hoping to find an answer, and I didn't. So I'm going to try to answer it) The first day after installation of these, I noticed sound coming from them. It wasn't from *wind* like some people assume. I think it was a mix of static and tension, (and maybe sunlight?) Though, I heard it at night too. The sound - slow, soft crinkling of a potato chip bag.. Usually every 20 seconds or so. It's the time that leaves me to believe it's some form of static discharge. This went on for two days before I decided it wasn't 'settling' and I started to think of what was causing it. Well, if this were permanent, you can bet I wouldn't be giving this product 5 stars. So here's how I fixed it. Remember how I said I had a flawless application, but this product leaves room for error? (if you skimmed ahead, that's what you get for being impatient). Well, my application was too perfect. It was as tight as a drum, stretched all across each side perfectly. I had no problem removing an entire side at a time and repositioning it so it was half an inch closer to the window (loosening the fit). I didn't do this on ALL 4 sides, just two. After doing this, the sound was gone! Bam! It's still pretty tight, but nowhere like it was before. It still tight enough to where you can't see it unless you have a lamp in the reflection. Otherwise it's invisible. I'm not sure why or what combination of things caused the sound, but after repositioning it to be ever so slightly looser, all is golden! So my advice, Don't get it drum tight the first time around... And if you do, and experience this noise, just loosen a side or two and it should go away. To apply, I put tape on all 4 sides, then cut the proximal size of plastic, started at the top, and worked my way to the bottom. I didn't have any issues, but the tape is strong, sticky and forgiving. It sticks great to my paint, without removing it (the paint) , and can be restuck many many times as far as I can tell. I did it alone, and you probably can too. Two people would make it easier, but it isn't mandatory. Having a sharp pair of scissors comes in handy. To trim the excess, I didn't trim, but glided the scissors around to leave as clean of an edge as possible. I also didn't have a hairdryer, but I did have a space heater which worked perfectly, Probably better than a hairdryer. It came with two rolls of film. I did 4 windows and have enough left over from the first roll for one more window, and haven't touched the second roll. (Each roll should get you 5 windows, and I'm on track to get just that). I also have more than enough tape left over and have begun to use it for home projects. It's super strong, invisible, thin, and removable. I love it on it's own and would pay 10$ just for that. ****and if you want to get creative... Consider attaching a neodymium magnet to your blind controller in a fashion that could allow you to open and close them as desired, if you so wished! I haven't tried this but I know it would work with some creativity (perhaps super gluing a flat magnet to the base of the spinny thing (attaching it so the N/S polarity is horizontal/perpendicular to the thingy) .. So that you can manipulate it by rotating an equally strong magnet near it (while keeping them apart of course - using your hand as a barrier). If you've played with high powered magnets before, you'll understand how this could/should work. an interesting thought to fix the fact that you can't control your blinds once the film is on) Similar thoughts apply to attaching a magnet to the draw cords (though, they may be too heavy for such ambitious ideas) But adding a weight to the draw string could be a way to counter that. Who knows! I have one more window to do, and I will test this out myself and update with whatever results I have.. Even if they are just awful.

Great Solve For RV Condensation!
This product is is affordable and makes a huge difference in our living situation. We were having trouble with condensation while living in an RV during the colder months and this shrink film has nearly 100% solved the issue! It is almost like creating a double pane window. It is sticks very well with the tape provided and is easy to install (you will likely need an extra set of hands for larger windows). I would absolutely recommend this product if you are in a regular house, but especially for RV living.

Actually quite good
I was expecting a big faff and a slightly cheap product, but actually it was pretty easy to do and it works. Setting it up took a little getting used to - by window three I was a lot quicker. It's obviously not like real double glazing, you can see the film a bit and it's not particularly beautiful round the edges, but it definitely helps with keeping the cold out on draughty sash windows, and it seems to have eliminated condensation completely. It has also cut down on street noise a lot. The size of the plastic was generous - a few centimetres bigger than advertised, as was the amount of tape. I found the roll-on method ok ( as opposed to unfolding the film, measuring and cutting) - convenient in some ways but you have to be quite careful to get the top edge at the exact right angle so the left side falls exactly straight and doesn't miss the tape. Also when you cut through the folded film on the right edge you potentially waste some which you might have been able to use for another window. I haven't had to take it off yet... but so far am very pleased with it.

Seem good. Definitely not puncture proof!
Seem to be holding in the heat way better! Only downside is we have to put tape across the film because it's so hard to see its there, the cat jumps through it on a weekly basis. Worth the purchase, just have to watch for pets.

Does not shrink
It did change the room which is now much drier but unfortunately did not shrink.

The product is amazing.
The Duck brand window insulation film is a yearly purchase for us, as we live in northern Ontario, and it works so well. Shurtape products are well-made and are usually reasonably priced. Since this is not a review of the seller or Amazon, that's all I will say here.
