Marmot rain jacket
Breathable and comfortable. Not good to keep warm by itself.

Great all-around rain jacket.
I bought the jacket to replace one I had previously worn out at work. Love the material, pit vents, pockets, and quality seems. The sleeves have a nice taper; I don't like loose clothing.

Getting Warranty Service Is Like Pulling Your Own Teeth With Rusty Pliers
I'd like to begin this review by stating that the jacket didn't hold up as well as I hoped, but overall it did an OK job. After a couple of years of regular use, the lining on in the inside started to flake off, and despite my following of the care instructions, it did not continue to repel water. So I contacted customer service. The person with whom I spoke was super friendly and directed me to start a warranty claim. The automated email response that followed stated that I would need to wait 5 business days for that claim to be processed. That time passed, so I called the warranty department, and got a person who was working at a call center. That person had all the information about my warranty claim in front of them (they cited the info), but could only field calls and not do anything to speed up the process. That person also told me the wait time was now 2 WEEKS. Two weeks later, I called and the person with whom I spoke stated that it would be 3 WEEKS (total). Another week passed and I called again. The person stated that it would be yet another week for the warranty claim to be approved. Keep in mind, this is not shipping, repair, and return. This is literally for them to approve the warranty claim in the first place. At that point, I pushed back as politely as I could under the circumstances, and promptly received and email seeking even more information and additional pictures of the jacket. I provided that, and yet I still haven't heard back at this time. So, in short, the jacket has about a 3 year lifespan, and the customer service is abysmal. I think I'd rather nail my own genitals to a burning building than purchase another product at full price from Marmot ever again. It's a shame because this company used to be one of the best outdoor brands on the market and they had a great reputation for standing by their stuff. Apparently that isn't the case anymore.

One of the best light weight rain jackets you can buy...
I bought this jacket for a trip to Costa Rica during the winter, AKA rainy season. It did not disappoint. Now, with any quality rain jacket, there is a compromise between waterproofness and breathability. The pit zips help mitigate heat build up and sweating. The front zipper is not waterproof, but the Velco flap does keep the rain out. The hood is large enough to wear over a baseball cap, and helps keep the rain from creeping down your cheeks and neck. Highly recommended for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone else that wants to stay dry while enjoying the great outdoors.

Great rain jacket
I'm about 6 ft and 160 lbs. The medium size jacket fit just right. I could get a fleece vest underneath it for extra warmth if needed while hiking. So far I've had it for about a 1-2 weeks and it has worked great. Walked through a downpour and stayed dry (at least the upper half). I like the features with the adjustable wrist cuffs, the hood tightening mechanism for wind (also in downpour) as well as pit zippers. Decent jacket and thus far it has treated me right. Great delivery through Amazon Prime as well. No Complaints!

Excellent jacket but..
Excellent jacket, the only thing is that the neck does not fit well and I use it for cycling so it does not work for me when it rains a lot but otherwise excellent for walking, hiking etc.

Better than expected
I already have Marmot's ultra - lightweight waterproof trousers which i have used extensively and they still work good as new. I was expecting this jacket to be a little heavier but it is lightweight and knowing its made of the same things as the trousers i believe this jacket will be equally waterproof and durable. Already used it in heavy rain, worked great. awesome for long distance walking, running and cycling.

Great jacket for the money!!
Picked this one up on sale at Amazon.ca. At any price up to ~$100, this is a nice buy. My Eddie Bauer First Ascent BC Alpine Lite is a much nicer jacket, with a cloth bonded on the inside to prevent the clammy feeling from humidity, waterproof zippers, and a much nicer fit; but it's important to note that it was designed to sell at $450. For ~$100, this Marmot is fully waterproof, has pit zips for ventilation, and a stow-away hood, and is a great jacket to keep stashed in the car or your briefcase for unexpected rain. Note that this jacket fits relatively large. At 5'10"/190lbs (46" chest/35" waist) this is a baggy, loose jacket on me - I can easily wear another layer underneath. The sleeves are the right length, as is the jacket itself, but it's roomy.

awesome summer rain coat
I've used this jacket twice so far while riding my motorcyle and while it doesn't look to be durable, it is very waterproof. Each time during rain, the rain was fairly strong but I was still dry underneath. I ordered a large because I was unsure about sizes and it is a "large" on me but this works for. i can wear couple layers underneath and not worry about jacket being too tight on me. There is no interior chest pocket but my phone is waterproof so I'm not worried about that. there is also a built in hood in the collar that you can hide away if not needed. I will probably use this jacket even for hiking. Definitely was a great purchase at the time.

A great shell for the price.
After 8 months with this jacket, I've been very happy with my purchase. I used it all winter for backcountry skiing, and I've already used it a few times this summer while hiking and canyoning. I'm 6'1", 185 lbs and the large fits me slightly on the loose side. But that's okay because I usually wear a couple layers underneath it anyway.

Excellent, especially at this price!
Lightweight and not too heavy for rain gear I am purposing for summer commuting, (cycling). Vents reduce the temperature noticeably and the material is not too flappy or noisy in the wind. The medium is a touch roomy compared to my usual experience / preference, but I decided at this price point to keep this one for layering and if need be purchase another in small for hotter days. Will buy again at this price point as others, even at higher prices tend to not have venting options, or are of a lesser quality.
