Easy to set up FUN
This place that was very nicely packaged and organized. The layout and instructions made it very easy to set up. The train tracks and playmat do not take up a lot of space which is nice when children have other toys. The compartments to replace the batteries were a little frustrating because we did not have a screwdriver that small but we figured it out. The train was easy to attach and the remote control works fine. The children are really enjoying this toy. If you have play dates at other homes this would be a good option to take since it is easy to pack up set up and carry.

Really neat remote control train toy!
Overall a really awesome basic remote control train toy. Comes with a track and some neat accessories. It was a little hard to get the train to line up on the actual track. But once we did it was super easy to use. I would suggest using this with kids older than 5 as my little one who is 3 had some trouble navigating how to get it back on the track. Overall kept the kiddos busy and they loved it.

It is not a well-made trainset!
Both the train car and the track were made very lightly/ thinly. Train cars fall off very frequently especially when it makes a turn. The remote control's performance is extremely poor. It does not work properly, not even from 5 feet distant. My little nephew (5 years) couldn’t take this train-set for more than three days. Not recommended for other customers.

Fun for my kid but doesn't work great
My 5 year old son is obsessed with anything related to cars trucks planes or trains I ordered this for him and he was super excited for it to arrive. When we got it he instantly wanted to take it out and put it together so we got to work setting it up It wasn't especially complicated to piece together, really putting the track together is the only thing that takes any time. The play mat it comes with is just thin plastic like plastic wrap almost or a very thin tarp. My son was honestly more excited to push the train around the house and drive it with his hands than he was to get it set up and drive it electrically on the track. This was very fortunate because unfortunately it doesn't really work on the track.. It does try but it just won't pull the train.. It ends up stuck and just sitting on the track trying to move and not going anywhere. This didn't deter him at all he actually prefers pushing it around by hand so all in all it ended up being A great item because hes had tons of fun with it but I feel like most parents will be frustrated to spend the money on it for it to not work And some children might not enjoy it this way. I do think it's possible that we just happened to get a dud or possibly need better batteries so I wouldn't tell people not to order this just be aware that it may not work the way you want. It may end up working great for others though. I also think it's a possibility that the surface you set the track up on could effect how well it works so try to ensure it's on a very hard flat surface and avoid carpeted areas. The price wasn't bad but for what we got I don't feel it was a great value but again we may have just gotten a dud. I'm going to have my husband look at it and see if we did anything wrong or if it's something that can be fixed and if so I will update my review. This toy is a good purchase for some kids because it can provide HOURS of fun but if the remote control feature is your main appeal then order with caution knowing it will potentially not opperate correctly.

Adult put together and play with toddler toy
First, this HORNBY Playtrains Flash The Local Express Remote Control Battery Operated Train Set R9332, Blue Red & Yellow is an adult put together and play with toddler toy. Once that’s done, it provides hours of fun. The instructions consist mostly of schematics. The tracks are delicate, and the cardboard structures require adult assembly. Once assembled on a flat surface it is awesome. Using the remote control (which fits nicely in his little hands), my two-year old learned how to start and stop the train; blow the horn, whistle, and turn on the lights through the tunnel. He enjoys both speeds and putting the train in reverse. Great beginner set and good value for the price. The only time it fell off the tracks is when he touched it while moving. His comments are: “Yeah, choo choo train.” “Wee, there it goes. I like choo choo train.”

We Could Not Get The Train To Work
Our techie teen, who takes apart and rebuilds computers for fun, was unable to get this train to work. There seemed to be something wrong with the controller as he could not even get the light to come on, the one that would indicate it was transmitting. The connectors that link the track are also flimsy enough to break if one is not careful when putting the tracks together. Our little ones were able to play with the powerless train set but it was nowhere near as cool as it would have been if the thing worked.

Nice set
It’s a really nice train, I wish the wheels had better traction. Negatives: the train constantly slouches off the tracks so my 3 year old son just uses it on the floor. The mat and cardboard cutouts were completely useless to be honest, my toddler didn’t care for them. The train remote won’t catch range further than 3 feet away. I give it 7/10 giftable
