There is a lot to like about this set. As a teacher, I tend to collect things that can help with different aspects of reading instruction. What stands out about this set is that box is organized by sounds. The sound cards have two sides: one that has the target word and picture, and one that supports phonological awareness. I also like that there is a comprehensive insert that explains the concepts and different uses of the set. My training is in this area (reading/phonics) so I didn't need it, but for someone who doesn't have the level of specialized training, it is fantastic information to have. It's a great addition to my classroom and am very pleased with it.

Good for practice with phonemes
This set allows pre-k, kinder or older kids to practice phonemes (sounds and not letters themselves). I am not a pre-k/early elementary teacher so there are a few confusing things about this, which are not the fault of this activity, just learning phonemes. They are not the letters themselves. If they only use the pictures, it works fine, but once they are connecting it to the written word there is confusion between the spelling and the sound. My 4 year old learned the sound that each letter makes and learned to identify that by looking at the letter itself. As kids begin to read, this gets confusing when you get to words like giraffe which get sorted under the /j/ tile. The challenging thing for a child using this set is that there are SO MANY cards. It is difficult to keep them organized so you don’t have to go through a hundred tiles to sort into only 6 trays. I try to pull out only the ones that I want my child to practice. My 4 year old has a great time practicing with this set!

Neat
I have been looking for Phonemic Awareness activities for awhile! This one is super good. I do think it could use some more sound patterns, like -tch & -iegh... This has the beginner PA sounds & much of the middle ones too. I do think it could be more advanced. It's super easy to use & makes for great practice. I would also like to see reusable expo flash cards with the words for kids to practice with. Overall, I am pleased but I do wish there was more.

Great product, difficult to sort
I loved this product's purpose and for the most part it's great, but there are some very confusing sounds and word combinations. Mainly what I struggle with is the word/card pairs are listed on a flimy instruction sheet and that's important, I wish it were a laminated card. And additionally, the cards can't easily be put back into any order, I wish there was a better method for sorting. It still works but after one use everything is hopelessly mixed together.

Good resource for early readers
This has worked well with my special needs elementary students so far. I've mostly been using it for students who are working on initial letter sounds, but I appreciate that it also has digraphs, blends, etc. The students like setting the cards in the little stand. I think I'll be able to come up with a lot of different games to do with this set. The one thing that could be improved to me is it would honestly be really helpful if the little cards were in separate dividers or containers by sound, instead of just in order but in one big stack. As you use more sets and use them more frequently, it's a bit of a hassle to keep it in order, especially with quick switches between student sessions.

Could use better instructions for the activities
I actually love a lot of the hand 2 mind products. I like this one a lot the only thing that I didn’t like about it was that it left a little bit to be desired with the instructions for the activities. Where I am classically trained in teaching I also do feel like there could’ve been approved direction and how these could be lovers in a better way. Otherwise we really like the product.

Fun Way to Reinforce Letter Sounds
This is a well-made set that includes a lot of pieces (yay for not having to purchase components separately). My kids were eager to try it out, and I think it will be great for my daughter who is entering kindergarten. I do have a few issues. First is that the included cards ask kids to identify sounds without regard for actual spelling - they include "phone" for the "f" sound, for example. Also, when you get past basic consonant sounds and move on to blends, etc, the cards use pronunciation symbols to indicate a sound, like the upside-down "e" for the "schwa" sound, and...my kids were lost. I took pictures of the last two pages of the booklet, so you can see what I mean. All in all, it's a nice set, but I absolutely had to go through and pick out specific tiles that weren't going to be confusing.

Phonemic Awareness Interactive Game
Pros: - Students were able to grasp the game concepts fairly well - They enjoy sorting the sounds on the display boards - Vibrant pictures - Answer guidance cards are helpful for younger learners Things to consider: - This set would be so much better with a better organization box within the set- the one that comes build into the box is just not student friendly - Some of the cards are slightly confusing for example "giraffe" was grouped with other words that start with J. A better instruction guide with the set would go a long way for students who may be using this set as part of a station.
