Best charcoal!
I’ve been cooking on a kamado style grill/smoker for years. I’ve always used lump due to it being cleaner than briquettes and all the fillers/binders they use in briquettes. My go to has always been what was cheap and available in my local stores (think red and yellow bag). I decided to try a better quality of charcoal after the wife and I had burgers that tasted like they had been infused with charcoal ash after a recent cook. For one, this charcoal is more dense. It does take a bit of a learning curve to ignite if you’re using the alcohol/cotton ball method. The cheaper charcoal I was accustomed to lit relatively quick. This takes a bit more time. Probably because the pieces are larger. This is not an issue though because of my next point… The quality of the burn is phenomenal. It produces very little actual smoke when coming up to temp. A relatively good indication that it burns much cleaner. This coal produces very little ash as well. Less ash and more longevity out of each piece allows for a more stable temperature while also eliminating that strong undesirable burnt charcoal flavor. It’s probably one of those things you really need to try to experience yourself. I routinely smoke or grill weekly. I generally range from 225° to 450° on my cooks. This charcoal handles it all. I’ll be using this from here on out.

Burns Hot and Long
Night and day over brick charcoal the amount of heat these throw, and how long they burn. I use them in a kamodo grill, so they last a long time.

Works great with a big green egg
Large chunks and long burning. I can easily start a Boston butt at 4am and cook all day without adding any more charcoal.

My New Standard Brand
I've been trying a number of brands since getting a new Kamado Joe last summer. After going through about 8 brands, my personal order of preference (based on availability in my community) is 1. Fogo Premium, 2. Jurk Large Lump. Fogo is #1 due to the large hardwood chunks, low sparking and good flavor. Plus being able to order on Amazon makes it easy. It arrives in a Fogo protective box and probably why there are so many larger chunks. The picture in this review is after using 50% of the bag.

amazing flavor.
I love this brand and use it often. However, I find that it does not burn that hot for that long. I have to use different brands to get that higher heat (+600) and anything longer than10 hours.

My go to on a ceramic grill
Out of Kamado Joe charcoal and this one, Fogo is definitely the least smoky of the two. It also takes less time for my kamado joe to reach my goal temperature!! Highly recommend! Don't usually need smoking chunks when doing mattress that require less smoke

Long hot burn
Great product and buy often. It’s a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Amazing product, over priced
Amazing product. Large chunks, easy to light, long burn, ability to attain high heat and sustain low and slow burns. Excellent flavour. I cannot give enough praise to this product. However, it loses points for price. I've found Vision lump charcoal at Home Depot (made for the Vision brand of Kamado BBQ). It is a close second place to Fogo, but is almost 1/3 the price at only $20 per bag (same size bag). I cannot justify the difference in price with so little difference in the products.

Buy local instead. Probably cheaper and not as damaged during shipment.
Good big pieces but more expensive then just getting the Kamado Joe big block from my local BBQ place. Thought I would try this out and later found out it was cheaper to buy local. Appears to be quality and it cooks well on 1st try. Package came delivered quite banged up and clearly had a hole in the bag prior to shipping as there was and attempt to tape it with clear packing tape. That did not work and when opened the entire inside of the box was covered in black soot.

Not as good as I had read about.
This charcoal was NOT big block. The biggest pieces were smaller than my hand and the majority of both bags were the size of sugar cubes. There was a lot of dust at the bottom of the bag too, I would not recommend this premium priced charcoal at all !

The pieces of wood are really large
I have never used charcoal with such large pieces before and was surprised and quite sceptical when I opened the bag. However now that I tried cooking with it I am very impressed. It takes a bit longer to get lit, but burns for twice as long and produces a really intense but even heat. I think that was the best steak I have ever eaten.

Best Charcoal
It's a lil expensive but deserve it. the taste is great, no white smoke and last for long time. Tried too many different charcoals and this charcoal is just a different level.
