best duct tape brand (out of 4 attempts)

I tried multiple brands of duct tape for a DIY project recently and scotch, despite being the most expensive, was also the best in terms of long-term adhesion.

Doesn't always tear cleanly

I use white duct tape to set up my portable AC exhaust in the window. I don't need a heavy duty tape and this is not one. But what I need is a tape the tears cleanly. Sometimes when I tore off pieces, the plastic white part would stretch rather than tear. I've not had this problems with other brands. This was my first time buying the Scotch brand tape.

Not a good value for the money

Purchased the white to attach a screen to a PVS tube. I did not want anyone to be able to see the fix. I thought that with this tape being 3M it would be a better quality. It does not adhere as well as the Duct brand adheres, I was very disappointed. The cost was awful $6.99 for 20 yards when you can purchase 90 yards for $9.98 at the local hardware store.

Duct tape holds, but this brand is like a Hugh grade packing tape

It is more like a higher quality packing tape, not at all like duct tape. Now need to buy real duct tape.
