Be prepared to visit your local hardware store.

We use this outdoor gate extension to keep our beagle in its kennel. The protective coating appears to be powder-coated on and has not shown any sign of corrosion or fading since about six months now. I am sure it will last much longer. Installation was straight forward but the three screws that attach the extension to the main gate were too short. Had to go to a local hardware store to purchase longer stainless steel screws. Cardinal Gates should not have allowed this oversight, but the extension is of excellent finish, strength and quality.

It’s a good extension, but nothing amazing.

I actually like this extension better than the gate itself if that makes sense. It felt sturdier and had better installation instructions. I don’t have a lot more to say about it other than it works, it’s relatively affordable, and it was not incredibly difficult to install. No regrets on the purchase.

Very nice gate!

This is a very nice gate made quite well. If you're buying this gate (I recommend that you do) and plan to use it outdoors you may want to consider spray painting it with a clear coat of UV/weather protectant sealing product. Mine is being used on a deck to keep the dogs away from the door so it is outside 100 % of the time. Recently I've noticed the original paint is fading after about 6 months of being exposed to the elements. Otherwise not a single problem with this gate.

The brown color is actually like a butterscotch color

The gates work as designed. The child proof latches seem to be also adult proof. The color was not what I was expecting. The brown color is actually like a butterscotch color.

Perfect for the Job!

We installed a Cardinal Gate and Extension at our lake house to add extra security so that our grand babies cannot "escape" and head down to the water. It works great!
