this homecraft 1000lb limit bariatric bedside commode works for 300lbs.
this commode had to be returned the first time because the legs were bent inward, one much more severe than the other. i was able to get a replacement free of charge for shipping or anything and the replacement has been great. the person using it is 300lbs. it holds up well and the seat is wide enough for very wide hips (maybe 36" wide, more or less, didnt take their measurements). the back piece i think was put in backwards or perhaps it was made wrong, because out of the box, installed onto the seat, it is not flat, but the round part was at an angle that digs right into the persons back. i had to take it off and turn it around backwards to be able to use the chair with it on. it is sturdy, but the way that the legs are not straight up and down, i dont have faith that this would hold much more than 400lbs. the legs are welded, but the cross members in the corners are not very big. there is still an angle to the legs. not like the first one. these are uniform and not the same angle. they seem to be designed this way. the sides easily pop up and down. i dont know about longivity because we leave them where they are. they do move very well though and the mechanism is easy to use. ours came with the bucket, lid, and toilet funnel thing. the only down side i can see of this chair, but its most bedside commodes. there is no way to put a lid on the bucket after use while installed, and there being no lid on the seat itself, after use, the contents just sits there making the entire room smell like the commode. we personally are trying out a 5 gallon bucket, the toilet funnel, and wood shavings or pellets. it absorbs the liquid, and therefore the smell, we use a plastic measuring cup as a scoop. 1-2 scoops per use. i get the substrate from the local feed store. then it can be composted or disposed of. for me, it sure beats trying not to spill the bucket on the way to the toilet, and you cant tell there is a used commode in the room unless you look at it. great for visitors. the room doesnt smell. hope this helps someone.

Mixed Feelings
I feel confident that this product will hold up to 1000 pounds as advertised as I am over 400 pounds. However, I do not feel comfortable using the arms to support any weight. The arms are designed to be adjusted but the latches are partially plastic and they do not fit securely. The handle on the removable bucket is also poorly designed and has fallen off multiple times causing spills.

Not quite as pictured
Functionally this item is fine- it’s sturdy, well made, and easy to set up and use. My only complaint is that it’s somewhat different than the picture. I selected it partly because it appears to have several inches of width on the platform on either side of the bucket. Not to give TMI, but his would have been very helpful to enable me to shift position enough to clean myself thoroughly - as it is, we’ve had to adapt less convenient methods, more difficult, and more time consuming. I should note that my weight is around 225, I’m tall & fairly narrow-hipped - and sitting on this commode there’s only about 2” clearance between me and the armrests. Anyone 40-50 lbs heavier than me would find it a tight fit, especially if they are more pear-shaped than I am. Because we can still basically use it, we’re keeping it, but it’s definitely not configured how we expected it to be based on the pictures. Big beautiful buyers beware!

Rugged but a couple of faults
This is identical to the brand my wife had in rehab but there are some things to watch out for. The arms that swing out of the way do not want to latch very securely. The bucket sits rather precariously under the seat with some rather small catches for the "ears" on the bucket. If you're not careful, there will be SPILLAGE!. Also, bear in mind it is pretty large and will not fit in to a conventional shower stall without hanging over. It's not a bad commode, but does not double very well as a shower chair. Also; it has adjustable legs but does not go quite low enough for a small adult or children.

Good chair, horrible bucket
The chair itself is sturdy and well-made. The seat cleans well, doesn't tip easily. The opening could be a bit better to assist with cleaning oneself. The real problem is the bucket. It slides in two metal grooves underneath, but the flimsy plastic flexes and won't stay in the grooves well. It dropped out on me three times -- fortunately while only holding a few inches of clean water! Thank heaven I had a kid's splat mat underneath to protect our hardwood floor. I tried fitting some silicone dots in the groove to make the bucket fit tighter, but they wouldn't stick. We ended up paying for a wheelchair-height toilet to be installed instead, but that's not an option for everyone.

Lightweight
This is supposed to hold 1000 lbs and I’m 250 lbs and take up the entire surface area. As I try to get on or off it wobbles and lifts. We have attached a 15 lb weight to stop the lifting. The hole to sit in is so small I barely fit. The leg that is beside seat catches my buttocks so it has to be covered with a towel. The only reason I ordered it was for the weight capacity and the arm goes down. My legs are not working so I have to use my arms to scoot on and off. It feels cheap

Wish it could go shorter!
I wasn’t too careful about what height it was; my mom has way shorter legs and it’s hard for her to climb up on the bench
