Reflective Leashes (Good/Bad/Compared)
I have tried several reflective leashes and collars, even those with LED lights. I found that despite the issues, this is by far the best reflective leash, though the rope style may be a good alternative. The Good: 1. This leash has a reflective surface on both sides. Most leashes available at pet stores are one sided, which bugs my sense of symmetry. 2. It is highly reflective and does not dull. I have bought reflective leashes that dull over a few months. 3. For smaller dogs, this is a very good fit. I have a 10 lbs terrier (that is very strong and dynamic) and this works well. The Less Good: 1. It is a little stiff and you will not want to bend it, it looks like it would crease permanently. I don't have an issue with that but it is worth noting that it has a different feel. 2. I bought the silver leash because I thought it was more stylish. It works great but I think that the yellow would be a more vibrant and visible color at night. The silver is fine for me because I have a sidewalk route I take at night and it seems less obnoxious. If you have no sidewalks or are in a rural area, I recommend the yellow. 3. It only has the snap option. Fans of a the slip-style leash may want to go elsewhere. 4. It is only 4 feet, which I actually prefer as I generally find myself pulling in 6 footers. But it is a matter of preference. Also, I am unsure of how well it would work for larger breeds of 40lbs and up. Comparison: I have tried many different options and here are some further comments. 1. Get a leash. You can find reflective collars but I have not found any that do not quickly dull over time. Also, and especially for smaller dogs, the collar does not replace the leash. You can add a reflective collar but I have not found any worth recommending and I don't think there is much increased visibility. 2. Petsmart Leashes. One sided, dull quickly, limited variety but more flexible (being one-sided). Enough said. 3. Reflective Rope Leashes (brands like Auburn, Mendota, etc.) are actually quite good and a decent alternative to this style. They are nylon ropes with a line of reflective material wrapped around the leash, so they are not as stiff and are quite flexible. The fact that it is not 100% reflective does not make it any less visible, they are flashy enough to work just fine. They are likely even a better option for larger breeds. I could not find one for a smaller dog (though they likely exist) so went with this one. Price-wise, the rope leashes are more expensive but they also have a slip options available (at least Auburn does). 4. I have an LED leash and collar but do not use them. The collar is difficult to adjust because of the bulky LEDs, so it is always loose. The collar's LED placement have the lights facing down, which makes them less visible. The Leash is a 6 footer and the LEDs are placed on the first four feet from the leash handle, i.e. the two feet near the collar has no LEDs. If you pull in your leash then you find yourself holding the LEDs in your hand rather than having them display. I end up putting two collars on my dog, using the second non-LED collar to attach the leash. I only do this if I am going off my sidewalk route and, honestly, just use it because I have it. Also, I don't like the flashing LEDs, it's distracting. I will likely not get replacement batteries once they die. So I prefer the passive reflective leashes.

Good for a night walk or run
I often run at night with my dog on the road and needed some way of alerting cars to her presence. After some research I went with this leash and have not been disappointed. The leash is highly reflective on both sides; a very noticeable yellow. The length of the leash is one thing that I liked, it is slightly shorter than most. Since I want my dog by my side, and since these "choose your own length" leashes are highly counter-productive to the training of a dog, this one was perfect. I have a 50lb lab, which is pushing the limits of the leash. It is a thinner leash, but it's tough vinyl and doesn't worry me much (and my dog isn't a puller). If you have a large dog or one that likes to lead this might not be the leash for you. My only gripe with the leash, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the clasp. When I received the product I was disappointed with the flimsiness of the clasp compared to the rest of the leash. I clipped it off, and after a $4 Home Depot purchase I was up and running, literally. Good stuff.

Love this item so much I am buying a second!
I bought my first leash of this type about a year ago after my 10 pound Pomeranian chewed through his old leash. I am back to buy a second now because I have two Pomeranians and everyone asks me - "Why does one of your dogs have such a fancy leash and the other doesn't?" These leashes are very durable and reflective. My first one was the gold which is more like a bright yellow color. I ordered the silver this time - just for kicks. Only slight negative to these is that in extreme cold the material becomes rather brittle - - but has never cracked - just gets stiff in the cold. Overall, I love this item and highly recommend. I am very much looking forward to my second one arriving!

Cracking in Half!
I was suspicious after opening the package since the leash was very stiff... very hard and inflexible. That was roughly six weeks ago. Now the stupid thing is breaking in half. Now I have to hold the leash in a special way hoping it does not entirely crack in half while I am walking my dog. I would hate to have to run dog the street chasing my dog when this stupid thing breaks in half. Do not buy!

Annoying. Yes it is reflective but I'd say get ...
Stiff, hard to hold. Annoying. Yes it is reflective but I'd say get one of those soft roll reflective collars. My neighbor has one and it is amazing. This is not that great even though the collars are. I think it is because it never exactly faces the cars directly unlike the collar.

Reflective but unsafe
Very reflective, yes, but stiff and does not seem secure. Your dog is kept safe by just a single metal rivet at the hand and the collar. I don't trust the safety of my dog to just a single rivet!

more reflective than any other pet product
The media could not be loaded. I saw Vedante's leash on Denver's NBC news and purchased a collar and leash. They are way more reflective than anything I've seen before. Most of the other products only reflect 200-600 feet. In addition they are very fashionable.

This is a "must have"!
I LOVE the white POP BANDS and this reflective leash both from Vedante Corp. I use both when out during night time dog walks and feel safe knowing I can now be seen by cars during the night time hours. This is especially comforting in the winter months like right now, since there is not enough daylight to get my morning and evening dog and people exercise in. These products are a must for all outdoor activities when visibility is a safety issue. Whether you are biking, walking, jogging, skiing, etc., be seen and be safe!
