This is all about safety, and the Gripper enhances that.

They call it a "Micro" jig for a reason. This is suitable for cutting small pieces and doing a lot of them. Since you have to completely set the jig up for every cut you make it is a lot of setup when you are making only one cut. Also you can only raise the blade a little bit so it sneaks in under the "roof" of the push block. I like my blade raised up higher so when it enters the wood it is pulling the stock down onto the table saw not right at you. I'm keeping it as well as the GRR-RIP BLOCK because I will find that very useful when using the router table; it's great for that. For the table saw I have been using the Vermont American 26778 Push Shoe Assembly which is currently unavailable. You can Google that to get the idea by seeing it here on the Amazon page. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and I have been woodworking professionally. I use leather gloves like they sell at Home Depot. I realize that the table saw blade only moves one way. So anything you do on the side of the blade that is closer to you is not going to result in a finger loss. So I take my larger boards and support them, and feed them into the blade by using my hand as a guide to push them into the fence and allow the board to slip by. That is why the leather glove is so important; it slides real nice. You can't do that with your bare fingers. I keep the push stock Vermont American handy just to the right side of the fence, and when I am finishing my cut, I pick it up, and hook the rear tab on the edge of the wood. My pushing motion is at a 45 degree angle toward the fence, not the blade. So if there is a slip my hand is moving over the fence not into the blade. Since the Vermont American is so tall my hand is always well above the height of the blade. Once I pass through the blade, and the piece is not south of the blade I give the V American a little twist and it pushes the cut piece just a little away from the blade to the left side. So I am not placing anything, or grabbing anything to the north side of the blade. That is the danger zone. Everything is done making contact between the wood and the fence. Okay so now back to the Gripper. If you are making repeatable cuts and you need let’s say 1/4" cuts the gripper is ideal for that. Myself personally I don't like working under such tight tolerances when it comes to gripping the stock. It brings a lot of dangerous possibilities into the mix. The Gripper virtually eliminates all of those risks. It's a pain to have to set it up for each cut, but if you are making a lot of the same pieces it is worth it. What I do when making sliver cuts for stock that is real thin, I run the large part of the board between the fence and the blade, and leave the sliver to the outside of the blade. You may be thinking why do that? You won't be getting consistent cuts that way. Normally that is correct, but I have an Incra Table Saw fence I bought here at Amazon but I don't see them carrying it anymore. It cuts accurately to within a thousandth of an inch, repeatedly, easily. Too much to explain. But anyhow I also use the Forrest Woodworker II blade which is exactly one eighth of an inch wide. So I can dial in the fence to be whichever size I need, plus one eighth to account for the blade. Perfect repeatable cuts without having to worry about trapping a quarter inch wide piece of wood between the blade and the fence and having to squeeze your push block along that narrow trough. You could do this manually with any saw by simply making up a sample guide piece that is the width you need, plus whatever the thickness of your blade is. Then you manually adjust the fence using the guide piece and lock it down. You can get some very accurate cuts this way. The alternative is set your fence once and forget it using the GRR-Ripper 3D but once again you are making a very inflexible cut. No matter how you look at it if you blade catches the edge of the gripper something ugly is going to happen. This is all about safety and the Gripper enhances that for small pieces. It's not cheap, but neither is losing a finger. I will be getting a lot more use out of this on the router, and the band saw, or as I mentioned for cutting smaller repetitive pieces on the table saw.

I like using this more than a push stick. I’m able to control the material going through the saw better and I get cleaner cuts. It makes the table saw more comfortable to use for me.

Worth every penny

I recently purchased it to use for my woodworking projects and I have to say, it's been worth every penny. The adjustability of this tool is really impressive. It fits a wide range of materials and can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically, making it perfect for a variety of projects. The high-friction rubber pads keep the material in place and the tool's ability to securely hold it against the fence of my table saw has helped me achieve straight, accurate cuts every time. The only downside is that the GRR-RIPPER is a bit expensive compared to other similar products on the market. However, I believe that the quality of this tool justifies the price. It's built to last, so you know you're getting your money's worth.

the adjustable middle part allows to not have a destroyed push block like my old wooden one I made myself prior. Good tool.

Safe

A good product that does what it’s designed to do . YouTube the product and that will tell you all you need to know . My only complaints that keep this from a perfect score product ? 2 things … 1) price ! This is twice the price of the other competitor ( which I also own ) , and they include more . And it’s functionally identical . The last one of these that I bought years ago ( yellow and black ) , I accepted the high price because it WAS made in the United States. Not any more ! It’s now made in Taiwan like the competitor . So The price needs to drop to be more comparable. 2) my only other complaint is : include the 1/8 adapter and a heel catch plate at this price ! Stop the nickel and dime purchases needed to have a compatible product . Do this and this becomes the best out there . At this price point … the “ other brand “ which I also own is the better deal .

Works like a charm

It’s expensive but cheaper than my copay at the emergency room. It does work as described. It keeps stock in place while cutting and is very versatile. As I get older, the more I value my fingers. This block keeps my fingers clear of the material and saw blade.

Safety first

If you use a table saw, router etc then this is a must purchase. This product is very well made and easy to put together. it allows the work to be pushed though the cutting tool with little to no risk of kick back (table saw). Obviously this isn't fool proof and normal safe working practices should be adopted. This is better than any other push stick device I have used. There are lots of you tube videos showing the uses of this device and many makers use them everyday. Yes its at a high price point but I think its worth the money given the control and safe operation you get with its use. Look youtube to see it in action and make you decision. I don't think you will regret it. But be safe with any cutting machine you use. Here ends the lecture!

Good but expensive

This is a very useful tool which, if used correctly, makes using large workshop tools (table saw, table router, jointer, etc.) LESS dangerous - they will always be dangerous. It is well made and functions very well. However it is very expensive for what it is and particularly if you want any of the upgrades or need two of them. There are alternatives that can be made from scrap wood which appear to be effective (see Steve Ramsey on a certain video streamer - unfortunately I saw it after buying my gripper).

For the price you would have expected to get the MICROJIG Gravity heel kit with it, but having said that it is a must for a Table saw &Router table

Best push block going. But pricey.

Undoubtedly the best push block out there in terms of effectiveness and design. But by god is it pricey for a few bits of 3D Printed plastic and rubber pads. The design allows you to open the block up to let the blade pass under (if on a saw) which is helpful and safe. The rubber feet pads give good resistance when pushing stock through allowing for pressure forward and against the fence at the same time. Which is what is so good about it. I have two now but buying each ome made me flinch at the price. Could be cheaper but then why would the company reduce the price if they sell as well as they do?

Great product!

I had been pondering whether or not to buy one of these for a while now, as I was concerned it was a little overpriced. Having finally taken the plunge though, I am very happy with my purchase. I can now use my table saw much more safely and make consistent reliable passes, securely holding the material. I would recommend this to anyone who knows (like I did) that they could be using their table saw more safely.
