It quickly heats my 2 car garage.
This is my second garage heater. The first was just too old and had a cracked heat chamber. The Good: It is nice to look at, heats my 2 car garage and has easy controls. The flue pipe has fiberglass insulation wrap for heat safety. The Bad: For it's size, I think it costs too much, but it looks like ALL the contained flame heaters are more. The Bad, continued: Easy instructions UNTIL...You have to do a lot of metal cutting for the thickness of your wall. The seal up against the back of the heater is just pushed up against it and seal pressure is from the outside piece secured to the siding, so if you cut flue pipe or intake too short there could be a gap where gases escape. It took me 30 minutes to hang the heater on the inside and 3 hours to cut flanges, and 2 pipes, caulk and paint. If the heater came with the intake and exhaust pipes already attached, the box would be Ginormous! Maybe it should have had big threads and the pipes screwed into the heat box? Bad continued part 3: The burn in. It took about 5 days of burn in with a very bad smell. I had to leave the garage door open and fans blowing. I used a respirator when out in the garage. Conclusion: I love it now, don't know how long it will last. It's made in CHINA. A mean, aggressive communist/socialist country that wants to take over the world! I couldn't find one made anywhere else. Maybe they're out there. Keep looking, but I have no idea how you would find out how the flue part is assembled. Maybe from reviews like mine.

Somewhat disappointed
Bought this to heat a small one-room cabin without electricity. Installation is a substantial but doable project. I knew a vented heater that is not fan forced can't give the same btu's as a standard fan-forced or unvented one. However, to say this is a 17,000 btu unit is misleading. The actual output is drastically less. If you are using it as accessory heat in a small well-insulated area I guess it would be fine. It does function well, i.e. pilot and heat control etc.; it just isn't very efficient.

1970s style heater.
If you want a simple, well-built silent heater that just works well, this is it. No wall thermostat, no Bluetooth, no app, not linked to a ring account, no wiring. Fantastic, exactly what we wanted.

Spider in gas line inside the heater
I could not get the heater to light after mounting and connecting. Called the guy who ran the gas line and he used a pipe cleaner to clean out the gas line. We found that the line was clogged in the last one inch of the connection next to the igniter. We disconnected the gas, took out the ignition unit. Separated the last two connectors on the gas line so he could insert a pipe cleaner in. He pulled out a tiny bit of spider web and it started easily after assembly. Must have come with a spider from the factory. Was told that compressed air to clean the line will not work. Need to use a pipe cleaner.

Works Not Super Efficient
We're heating around a 460 sq' space and this does the job easily, only keep it at about 2.5 - 3 and it's comfortable. Problem is, it's not very efficient. Our gas bill went up about $100 the first month. Not thrilled, but it works. Top of the unit is hot enough to cause blisters, but the front of the unit is okay to touch. Surprised the heat doesn't hit the wall above the unit more; it's warm, to the touch, but not hot. If I were to do it again, I may look for a more efficient unit.

"effective" BTU's is only 11'000. Hidden in op manual. The 17'000 advertised is input not output.
The headline says it all. I would have gotten the larger model knowing what I know now but "no returns". Now I know why. I bet a lot of very cold people sitting around pissed off after doing all the work. Effective "ouput" BTU's is what matters. why can't we be upfront about this. Do not buy this unit unless a very small room. Install is a bitch for average joe. Also understand it is only 70% efficient so 30% out the exhaust.

NO forced air, size is bigger than advertised.
Advertised as having forced air which it does NOT. Also measurements given in the ad were incorrect. The size given in the ad is for the 11,000 BTU unit, not the 17, 000 BTU unit which is actually 28" wide. Not a bad deal for the money but really wanted a forced air heater which this one is NOT.
