Good kit for reel maintenance

This kit contains everything needed for reel maintenance. The one bait caster I've used this product on is working just like it was new. Looking forward to using this product to treat all of my reals when fishing season for the summer is over.

GREAT stuff... but is it simply rebranded motor oil?

First, i have to state that i didn't buy the Reel Butter 3-pack for fishing reels. I got it for folding (a.k.a. "pocket") knife pivots; both bushing type and ball bearing type. That said, i believe my main observation will carry over to anything Reel Butter Bearing Lube (RBBL) may be used on/in. That observation being specifically about the RBBL's suspiciously familiar odor and feel on my fingers. I could swear it's quite simply motor oil of a low to mid viscosity somewhere between and including 5W to 20W. That said, RBBL is hands down THE best lube I've ever used for knife pivots of either bushing or bearing type. I've used $15-for-10ml-KPL, and it's mediocre and drastically overpriced. 3-In-1 Oil is decent and a lifetime supply for knife pivots will only cost you $5. White lithium grease was my favorite knife pivot lube prior to using Reel Butter. But i bet you 5W motor oil is every bit as good as RBBL. I will try some 5W on my next knife overhaul. If it's NOT as good as RBBL, then I'll update this review. If you don't see an update, then i have concluded that 5W motor oil is in fact an identical or substantially similar replacement for RBBL at a tiny fraction of the price. And of course, since your reel or knife pivot will never log tens of millions of revolutions at 250°F, you know your fishing or knifeplay won't wear out motor oil. Well, save for potential saltwater interaction and/or washout from submersions and splashing. In my rating i gave an overall 4-star rating, and 3 stars for value, because *if* RBBL actually isn't motor oil, then it's a decent value because a little goes a looonnng way, and whatever substance it actually is, it's a superb pivot lube. If it *is* motor oil, then it's overpriced by about 30 times, literally, though...

Not sure about sheerness & warmth, but good lube

I build Shimano 95 Stella's, all sizes & use the grease, gear lube & reel lube on ever one. When properly built, these reels are a joy to use. The lube kits are just the touch needed to amplify the quality.

Decent stuff

Works good. A little stiff at the beginning but that's probably because I didn't clean the bearing first. I'm used to the Abu grease and oil. This stuff seems just as good so far.

Can't Believe It's Not Butter

Following the reel manufacturer's lubrication guide, I put oil where oil went, bearing lube on bearings and grease where grease was indicated. Just a little bit of each is all it took to get my year old reel working just as smooth as my new one of the same kind. The applicators for the oil and bearing lube are handy. I used a small hobbyist brush with the bristles cut back some to apply the grease.

I fish a lot and keep my equipment in good working condition. I use these products a lot. It's important to keep your reels clean and well lubricated in order to get the best performance and longevity out of them.

A little goes a long way.

The lube quality is next to none. The containers seem small but a little goes a long way in this case when servicing fishing gear. Its worth the money, made in U.S.A, i got it on sale.

Great set of lubs

I used all three on the areas suggested and wow what a big difference it made to my fly reels even my expensive Orvis reels it just added that extra silliness to the reel , I'm very pleased with this set of lubs

Good product and worth the money

Very good product. I wish the bottle tip was narrower to get to some tight spots. The grease is a bit too pasty, wish was a bit more like creamy.

Don’t rely on just one generic reel oil.

Excellent products makes reels like new. Beats the generic reel oils.
