Works but louder than expected

I purchased the AE110L 80cfm 1.0 sones to upgrade my 14 year old Nutone 70cfm 3.0 sones that is installed in both master and second bathroom. The new design looks to be much better with the now self enclosed plenum so you would think they figured out how to get the CFM up and get the sound level lower. I don't know if there is a standard to the sones rating but if my old unit is 3.0 sones then I'd say this AE110L is more like 1.5 or possibly 2.0 sones. I was expecting a 66.66% reduction in noise from 3.0 to 1.0. The LED light is very bright and needs to be toned down. After install I woke up at 4am and forgot how bright it was and it felt like I got hit with a spotlight directly into my eyes. I'm afraid once it goes out it will cost me over $60.00 to replace which seems a bit too much. Install was pretty straight forward but you really need to plan the direction of exhaust port and where the housing mounts to the joist and that you have enough length of power line since mine the location on new unit changed. I ended up using my own 2x4 cut to about 12" screwed into the drywall to be able to attach the housing so the exhaust port is facing the right direction.

not an easy replacement but quiet

i had to get into my attic to make room for the 4" duct and drill new holes to secure to the ceiling joist, holes were only on one side, poor design...the spring clips to secure the cover are flimsy and very hard to install.....so far so good, ask me in 16 months if it was worth it...

Not that easy to install.

If you read the sales pitch, review the manual, and watch DIY YouTube videos, you would think this would be a fairly easy installation. It isn't. If you think your butt isn't going to have to get up in the attic - you are kidding yourself. The device is good. There are some aspects of the design that I take exception to, but that is for another time. This might be one of those times you bit the bullet and pay to watch your local handyman put this in while you sip your coffee. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Good basic fan/light combo. Quiet enough. Light is a bit bright for my liking, but I could install a dimmer if I wanted.

This Review Saves Time/Money

Yeah, so... This is a nice, residential quality, bath fan from the industry leader. No complaints. The packaging was good. The instructions were good. The build quality is good. Really, it's exactly what you'd expect. However, after going through the fairly tedious process of removing one unit and replacing it with another (from the same manufacturer), I can see now that I could have saved myself a bunch of time and a bunch of money, if I'd just replaced the motor assembly from the old fan. I mean much of what I took out was replaced with something nearly identical (honestly, the older metal was slightly thicker gauge). What a waste of time and resources! So, credit where it's due: the manufacturer has designed these to be highly modular for cleaning and repair. If your old fan is loud, take it apart, clean the lint off, replace the motor, and put everything back together. Then, you can skip the demolition, the (frustrating!) housing removal, the instalation of the new box, reconnecting ducting, rewiring... The list goes on.

I like everything about this Broan-NuTone AE110L.

We have bought Broan before. We feel It always lives up to its advertisement. We were getting a lot of cool or hot air (depending on the outside weather). The trap door in this product eliminated that, making our half bath the same temperature as the rest of the house, instead of the outdoors. The LED light is also nice. The fixture looks nice. The sound, when running is reasonable, not quiet, but not loud either.

Work great but LOUD

First off I thought the led lights would be helpful but I was wrong. They’re actually too bright! Unless you have a dark room I wouldn’t recommend the ones with lights. Secondly, these exhaust fans are loud. I had one installed in the master bath and another in a secondary bathroom. I can hear it from all corners of the house. I bought these to replace ones that were 15 years old, despite all the technology the others were quieter. The exhaust fans themselves do the job.

lots of light and quiet

love my fan. Bought it mainly for extra light as my bathroom very dark. Plenty of light. Hardly makes any sound. No complaints from person installing fan.

Great product

As advertised. Quiet, well built and a bright light. I would recommend to get two switchs and add a dimer to the light.
