Good valve, cheaper ones can be found

Works as advertised and appears to be a pretty good quality check valve. After I purchased, though, I found similar valves at my local hardware store that were a little cheaper, so can't give it 5 stars.

Works perfectly on my pool, and being a union gives me more options for repairs.

Put this between my filter and my chlorinator, works perfect and gives me another joint that I can take apart if I need to replace a component in my pool pump/filter set up. Was a little worried as there are many other products that cost much much more, but this did exactly what I needed, keeps my chlorine from the chlorinator from going back into my filter, and allows me to turn off valve feeding pump and clean that basket out without having to worry about shutting off other valves on the returns.

Check Valve Mechanics Won’t Last, Not Serviceable!

Look at the photos to see just how bad this was after only 2 seasons, maybe less. Recommend you buy a serviceable check valve because this one is not able to replace worn parts and you will find yourself having to cut out PVC pipe and fittings when (not IF) it goes bad, because they are cemented together. The value in a check valve is a mechanical gate that only allows water to flow in one direction. I installed this 2 years ago, and don’t know how it looked after the first season but upon connecting things this year to open up the pool I noticed the “flapper” that prevents the water from flowing backwards was almost completely deteriorated. The flapper is basically some type of fabric or material with metal parts attached to it. I don’t know if the metal piece is somewhere in my system now but only part of it is still on the flap. This is a cheap design. I ended up buying one with a spring loaded gate that is serviceable when parts wear out over time and the top is clear plastic so you can see it work and it’s condition. Spend more money and get one that not only will last, but also serviceable over time.

It Works

Could not get new pump to prime. After installing this on the inlet side, pump primed okay

Not impressed...

This worked well enough, in the beginning. Didn't quite last a full season. The flap that keeps the water from going backwards deteriorated, came loose, and ended up blocking water flow almost completely. For the price, I would not recommend this product.

Solved our problem

Works great for the pump we purchased which we were having a problem with keeping it primed. This union solved that and was easy to install.

I had to replace another inline check valve that failed after 2 months. I'm HOPING this one out performs the previous one.
