Damaged Train wheels in the box

Updated 12/2019: Reached out to Bachman Trains and they sent out the replacement wheels for my engine which I received in a few days. They are a famIly owned and operated business so they take pride in their trains. Old review12/16/19 Product is damaged in the box when I received it. This was a used and resale product. The front wheel axel for the train is broken off into 2 pieces and can not be fixed. I can’t run this train so I won’t know if anything else is damaged. Sending it back and will purchase another brand train and tracks.

Good Christmas train for user $200

I purchased for $159.99 with Amazon Prime shipping just couldn't resist. I have other Bachmann Christmas trains in G-scale and this set fits perfectly. The loco isn't as nice as the North Star Express, Wonderland or White Christmas sets but it's got the same good under carriage just with more plastic detail parts then others I listed. Steel wheels on all the cars sound great. I don't use the cheap track the set comes with and prefer using Lgb brass track and 5' radius curves which keeps from having derailments. if you want a good running train that'll go all day without falling off the track then I recommend up grading track to lgb g-scale track sections and then you can even run the train outdoors.

Excellent introduction to g gauge trains!

I bought this to go around the Christmas tree. I was a little worried based on some of the bad reviews, but everything came fast and in perfect condition! I assembled the track and was up and running in 15 minutes. The locomotive and cars all are very detailed and realistic looking. The decor on the locomotive is a combination of metal and plastic parts, so be careful what you’re grabbing, but for anyone who understands that this is a model railroad, and not necessarily a “toy”, it’s a great value!

First train came damaged not from shipping but something internal with the locomotive or the tender box would not make sound so I had to send it back and get a new one the new one came and it works good but keep that in mind before purchase

Missing Parts, Bachmann bad customer service!

Received train set with broken bell on and missing part on engine. I tried contacting Bachmann directly by phone and emails with no responses. Train set itself is a nice accessory to Xmas tree but you will need to purchase 2 additional straight tracks to make proper fitment around standard tree skirt.

the track is works fine and is difficult to put together

bought the train for my 4 year old. the track is works fine and is difficult to put together, its an absolute must to use the snaps the hold the the track together. about 2 hours of train use the speed controller stopped working. bought a new one for 35 and it works fine. the light on the coal car never worked out of package. the sound works great but a whistle would have been a nice addition. the steam is not what i expected but it does work. its a pain getting the train on the track. i have a track from 20 years ago that connects to this track and still works. i would not recommend for any child less than 4 for it will be broken in less than a day.

Great for the Christmast Tree!

This is great for the Christmas tree. Quality is good, very sturdy. I run it around the Christmas tree in the Winter, and it never gets stuck on pine Needles (it doesn't pick them up at all). Easy to set up, and able to withstand my two year old poking it in excitement, or driving it stop/go/stop style. I like the looks. Would recommend to anybody looking for a big train to use at Christmas time. Size is perfect. It could use a couple of extra straight track pieces, but you can buy them on Amazon for a minimal price.

Broken in the Box

The box the train came in was not in great shape but everything appeared to be in new condition inside the box and I put it away until closer to Christmas. When I unpacked the train some wheels needed to be put back on which is to be expected. However, one of the trucks on the coach car was actually broken. Since I didn’t fully unpack the product within the return time I’m stuck with it with no recourse. Even if you’re not going to use a product right away, unpack and inspect it. Lesson learned.

I wouldn't buy it again.

The quality is not there. I had to re-solder the track power connector to get the train to run (if I wasn't a mechanic, the kids would've been very unhappy on Christmas). Once I did get it running, The synchronized sound didn't work. I didn't try the smoke feature. The 3rd party that it was sold by, when questioned, said that "The manufacturer has a lifetime warranty" and gave me a 1-800 number. I haven't called them yet and I'm not going to attempt repair myself as warranty would be void. If I had to do it all over again,,,,, I wouldn't.
