It’s ok… sound sync needs app open

The 3M is super sticky and the lights are hard to bend if you need to wrap it around. I, like many people are doing the thunderstorm cloud for my kid in his room. I am trying to get the lights to sync to a soundtrack of thunder when it’s played through his speaker but it is proving to be very difficult and it appears that you need to have your phone/tablet open to listen to the audio.

Beautiful lights and colors, unreliable connectivity

The lights and color are beautiful and better than I expected. The connectivity is poor and both my lights go offline every 3-4 days. When they go offline, they cannot be controlled from HomeKit or TP-Link's Tapo app. Once offline, I have to reach into difficult corners (behind a closet) to unplug the lights and plug them back in. It's super annoying and makes me regret this purchase every few days. I have no other reliability issues with any other HomeKit devices in my network.

Adhesive is useless

I wanted to attach this to my Corian backsplash which I scrubbed and let dry them wiped again with alcohol. This does not stick at all. I'm a 69 year old boomer and had no trouble at all with the tech part but can't install the strip where I want it. Returning.

It didn’t occur to me that since they work on wifi that they would be using bandwidth all the time, even when not in use

Super easy set up, really fun effects.

Was extremely easy to set up and connect with Alexa. Does have nice whites, though turned out to not be quite bright enough for my application. Still, if you want a nice clean daylight white option, this is for you. The effects are really fun - kids love em. Won't work for intended application, but will likely find a different spot for them cause they are too much fun.

Phenomenal Light-strip at a competitive price

I’ve been searching for a versatile light-strip for quite some time. I’ve used Govee and Hue, but Hue’s ridiculously priced and Govee didn’t have dedicated whites. It’s unfortunate their music sync doesn’t work when they’re grouped (you can only sync 1 strip per listening device), but that’s circumvented by using multiple devices - if that’s really important haha.

Control Problems - Tech Support Deficient

On the recommendation of NY Times Wirecutter, I purchased 3 TAPO L930-5 strips, to go between the joists of the loft above my living room, to provide ambient light. The first light went in just fine, and the control screen on my iPhone was just as shown in the "User Guide" of their website. I added the other two, and could control each of them as with the first. I then grouped the three, and the control screen changed. There is no On/Off button, there are only six colours available, and an intensity slider. I tried to reset each of the strips, and had no control over any or all of them. Tapo's tech support is somewhere between nonexistent and abysmal, and there is no contact information for either email or phone support. Further, control of the strips is required to be 2.4 GHz. My Linksys is, in fact, dual-band, but I had it set up only for 5 GHz, and had to go through some complications to set up a separate band, with name, and password, and then swap my iPhone access to the new network. This should be stated up front. Damn, I hate it when I buy a product and it arrives with an "oh, by the way, there's a requirement that we didn't mention before, but now that you actually have it in your hand, and you've opened the package, you'll need to..." So I just thought I'd start over. When I grouped the light strips, the individual strips disappeared from my home screen in the app, so I tried to re-install each strip, and, if need be, I would control them separately. I could not do this, since each strip is now in the group. I could remove the group from the home screen, but I guess it still remains in data, so I could not re-install each strip on a second try. So - I thought I would delete the app, which would delete the data, and start over with an app re-install. I can not download the app. When I call it up in the App Store, there is no provision for "Get," or "Download." Did I mention that Tapo's support is somewhere between nonexistent and abysmal?

Bright and easy to set up

The more expensive version of LED strip, however, very bright (enough in a small room to read and write). Easy to install, good app and quick to link with Google or Apple. The connection to the strip is a bit lose, come off easily and 3M strip on LED could be stronger. I would buy it again.
