Great art set

Good instruction, but supplies are a mixed bag
The video instruction was good and I liked the colored pencils, but the watercolor markers were awful and the paper they provide, while thick, is clearly not watercolor paper. I followed the instructions, but even a tiny amount of water on the brush "chewed the paper up", causing little bits to pill/flake off. The watercolor markers also don't blend well at all, so I have a bunch of random marker lines. Because the watercolor markers are in the last lesson, I basically ended up ruining the piece that was really nice up until then, before finally just giving up. The instruction was nice, but I'd recommend going for a set that doesn't involve watercolor pencils or watercolor markers if you want to try one of these. If you really want to try it and have actual watercolor paper, I'd recommend using that instead of the paper provided. And, unless I got defective markers, they probably wouldn't work well as watercolor markers regardless of paper.

A bit more challenging than the animal series
My son started out with level one animals and that set was excellent. He asked for the nature/landscape sets so we also got this one for him. The box came with a coupon to set up. It was a bit clunky when we first signed up with the account before but after the first time around it was a lot easier with the subsequent kits and the coupon codes. Not sure if this was because we had a log in already? This set comes with everything you need and use during the lesson. Since he had gone through the 3 animal level sets, we thought he'd be able to jump straight to level 3 for landscapes. This one was a bit more challenging. I am not sure if it is because of the grid technique or because it is more of a larger piece of art vs. just drawing a small animal. Maybe we should have started on level 1 for landscapes and worked our way up. That being said it is using a video to teach the lesson and therefore it wasn't an issue for him to repeat parts of the video. The best part is that for some of the animal kits, my 7 year old who has expressed interest has now also watched the first set of videos and learned how to draw the dog from the animal set 1. So the value of these lessons is that they can be played again and again for more practice or shared with the rest of the family.

Really neat art kit. Comes with everything you need to compete the project. I love that it includes the video tutorial to guide you along. They make it as easy as possible to achieve the result. Prismacolor is a great brand! Can’t go wrong with their pencils.

Easy to follow lesson for beginners with great quality colored pencils
Prismacolor colored pencils have consistently proven to be top notch quality. I have used them a lot over the years and have never been disappointed. The drawing class was thorough, easy to follow, and fun. This lesson covers how to draw a natural sunset scene. If the set leaves you wanting more, Prismacolor offers other video tutorials on drawing techniques that are available to purchase for $10. This doesn't include any pencils that are used for these particular lessons unlike the boxed sets, so unless you already own a wide variety of colored pencils that would sustain you through the additional lessons, I think purchasing the box sets rather than the individual lessons is more practical. Overall, the set would be a great gift for any art enthusiast who would like to sharpen their skills.
