used screws instead of suction cups
Just bought a two man plastic pelican bass boat. Bought two of these caddys for it. The suction cups dont hold worth a darn. Just used sheet metal screws to screw it into the boat under the seats. The screws will screw in without predrilling a hole but i drilled a small hole first and put plenty of marine grade silicone sealant in and around the holes. Its a plastic boat so dont have to torque down the screws. A lot more solid than the suction cups.

My totally honest opinion
I like it it's big enough to hold many items you would need for a days of fishing the plier hole is a little small. With a sharp knife you can make it a little bigger. Please know be very careful the plastic is easily crackable! My only complaint would be plastic needs to be more of a rubberized sturdy material

Double the cost ruins the value!
This cup holder works just fine on the side of my custom built tall chair. Lots of room. The cup holder section is very large and even large yeti types fit loosely ( my only complaint ). Used screws to mount, and yes it is not completely flush with the mounting board I used, but NBD. Now I need another since the hurricane has blown the holder off my chair. However, the current price is double what I paid only a year ago, and thus what was a great value then is now nothing special at all. Looking around for a better deal.

Suction cups don't mar or damage finish on mounting surface. One side does slip down but stays connected.

Works well for my needs
This was the second tray I have bought for my boat. It holds my tools, lures and drinks within easy reach without getting in the way. I was able to mount them securely to the the gunnel with screws, and the angle of the hull was just right to mount them in a level position. (I have a V-hull aluminum boat.)

A nice little organizer
This is a really handy contraption, use it in my fishing kayak to hold baits and other small items. It's a bit on the small side, but helps keep things off the floor of the boat.
