Nostalgia awakened new hobby
Bought this as a coping mechanism for losing my beloved pet of 17 years. It gave me something to focus on. The nostalgia of having one from childhood was nice. It did much better this time around. Started with about 50+ lil guys, about 6 weeks in I’m down to 1 friend left! If the tank collapses completely I plan on starting over with a new set up to see if I can keep them going longer. For just what it is, it was so fun!

Definitely a fun gift idea for those who loved this growing up!
Gave this as a birthday gift with the intention to reminisce childhood days and it did just that! Everything came together, but I did find a small tear in the egg packaging but it turned out perfectly fine! Not as much maintenance as I remember but patience is definitely required during the whole growth process for the sea monkeys itself. Neat gift overall!

They do not hatch "instantly"
It took 12 days for my eggs to hatch and I nearly dumped the tank to start over with a new batch of eggs. I'm glad I waited. It's been over a month and they're still doing well. They're resilient little creatures. Had them as a kid and wanted to relive the excitement of hatching shrimp and watching them grow. Bummer you can't choose you're own tank color though. I'm happy with the one I got but it would be better if we could choose the color.

Interesting Gift for Kids
It’s quite an interesting gift for kids and a starter “pet” gift for kids. I think the price can improve though.

Didn’t ever hatch
About this because I teach fourth grade, Utah history, and Brian Crimp is a huge part of the great Salt Lake. Our class is very excited about it but nothing hatched. The students thought it was cool.

Have patience, young grasshopper!
The media could not be loaded. My 8 year old recieved this as a gift. He was so excited, but when I looked at the package of eggs, it was damp and green and slimy... I was pretty sure it wasn't supposed to look like that considering the instructions say something about "pouring" in the package. I tried bracing my son for disappointment, but he insisted that they were going to work. I followed the directions precisely until it came to pouring in the 2nd packet... that I opened on 3 sides and dunked into the water until most of the green slime washed off into the water. Nothing happened for about a day. Then there were like 4 sea monkeys... 2 days later there was absolutely nothing moving in there again... I didn't want to crush my son's spirit, so we "fed" his "sleeping" sea monkeys before going out of town for a week. When we came back there was a handful of tiny sea monkeys. A couple days later, there are about double the number of sea monkeys swimming around. Apparently you just need the faith and patience of an 8 year old to grow these suckers... because I would have tossed them after a day of nothing growing.

A cute lil hobby
Okay y'all…. we hatched them and enjoyed them for one day and then the next day we did not see any and we thought they d*ed. A few weeks passed and I decided to take a peak at the plastic container and it was lively with a lot of sea monkeys! At this point we had thrown away the food and whatever the other package was for. They lasted about 2 months with minimal care. Got big! Worth it. Gifted this to my 20 yr old bf and he liked it like he was a little baby boy. So fun!

Have patience...they will hatch
The media could not be loaded. Exciting update: its now Feb 26th and i have a pregnant sea monkey in the tank with many. The other tank is down to only one, but she is also pregnant! The booklet has interesting info about these creatures. One being they can make eggs without a male. I guess she got tired of being alone? I read a lot of reviews before buying 2 of these for Christmas. My takeaway? Follow the directions. Wait. Have patience. Wait. These are not instant pets. We purified the water on Christmas day and poured in the eggs the next day. After 2-3 days we had tiny seamonkeys. One tank had tons, the other just a few...but then a week or so later, the tank with many dwindled down to a few and the one with few grew. And has thrived. The video attached is probably a month ago, but here we are, Feb 14th and doing well. But I never gave up on that tank that disappeared. I periodically turn both tanks 360deg and sure enough, there are still eggs that hatch even months later. These things are fascinating. Get them. One tip tho. Once you have a decent colony going, I feed them twice a week and they are doing better with that.
