Saved Thanksgiving!

I love pies, and I love to bake, but the delicate balance between making sure the pie is “done” and not burning the crust has always been a problem for me. A cooking show taught me a few years ago about the method of placing strips of foil around the edge of the pie plate to protect the crust from burning, but the strips would always shift and expose the crust to too much heat. I don’t remember what led me to search for something different, but I stumbled upon pie crust covers and wondered where they had been my whole life. I selected this one over the silicone ones because it seemed more sturdy and easy to clean. But the true test was my Thanksgiving pecan pie. The cover kept my crust perfectly golden brown while the filling bubbled up in the oven, and I could not have been more relieved! I would make sure any baker in your life has one of these!

Protects oven from messy spills and is easy to clean

I generally like this product however the glass pie plate will slide on it. I wish this one had the rubber ring around the center hole to keep the pie plate in place like my previous one had. I would pay more for one with this safety hazard addressed.

Must Have Tool!

This simple shield has made such a difference when making friut pies. I fill my pies very generously and often have to clean my oven afterwards. I have tried a jelly roll pan underneath but this effected the cooking time and is not easy to clean. I wish I knew about this shield years ago!

Overall good to control spills in the oven

I like the size.Its also very easy to wipe up spills that have burnt on. I do wish it was a sturdier material. I feel i have to support the bottom when i move it.It feels a bit unstable with any casserole or well filled pieplate.
