Superior To Negative Ion Tower Cleaners
I’m a clean freak, I admit it. Purchased my first air negative ion tower air cleaner from Sharper Image in 2000. Purchased 5 units over the years. Did not want to deal with replacing HEPA filters. The Sharper Image units stood up well to time, cleansed indoor air and delivered an unmistakably fresh scent. Recently purchased 2 negative ion tower air cleaners sold on Amazon for $175.00 each. Not Sharper Image units. Didn’t clean 500 square feet as advertised, more like a 12’ x 12’ room. Instead of HEPA filter replacement, I was cleaning the chrome plated steel panels daily, as the intermittent hissing noise drove me crazy. Finally decided to try the Levoit air cleaner, based on reviews. Was so pleased with the cleansed air quality and legit 400 square foot range, that I purchased a 2nd Levoit unit 2 weeks later. The two units easily cover the entire 800 square foot 1st floor. HEPA filter, included in the purchase price of $99.00 each would be replaced in 6-8 months. I can definitely live with that. The two tower units have been relegated to the master bedroom and my home office. They leave each room smelling fresh, but I have to shut off both units while sleeping / working, due to the annoying hissing noise and the need to wait hours after cleaning before restarting the units.

COVID terror purchase become beloved house droid
I try not to buy things from Amazon because it is a slippery corporate slope and Ol' Cowboy Jeff is happily destroying the small business that America claims to love. That said, I get that it is a very useful service for many folx, especially those who can't leave their houses, which was all of us in spring 2020. (Funny how that time hasn't resulted in more accommodations for folx with disabilities!) With my guilt-fueled pontificating about Amazon complete, I will now admit that I bought this to bring with me on a cross-country train ride in the summer of 2020! My partner and I were moving from East Coast to West and we decided that taking a 3-day Amtrak was less virally terrifying than flying. In retrospect this seems a bizarre decision warped into life by quarantine brain, but it worked because we could bring our bikes and LOTS of bags with us for very little money which would not have been possible on an airplane. We managed to fork out enough for a private room on the California Zephyr (thanks pandemic prices!) and my belief was that this would be a totally safe situation IF we had an air purifier on board. Reader, I was... misguided. This is a big object! Which I would've known if my panicked mind had taken five seconds to read the size specifications. There was no way I was going to get it into my duffle bag, let alone set it up in the Kleenex box of an Amtrak sleeper compartment. Also, if I had managed to bring along my air safety friend, in retrospect it probably would've tripped the break for the whole train car. So, the round Levoit went into the cross-country crap delivery box although really I should've just sold it rather than paying for its weight to follow me to California. However! I was glad my fear-shredded mind decided not to let it go because the first month we lived in the Bay Area, this air purifier was absolutely clutch for making our bedroom sleepable during all the fires. It did not protect us from COVID at any point, but it cleared out slithery window-breaching smoke like a rockstar. I was impressed. Suddenly the size seemed too small for such power. Several years later it is a beloved member of our house of droids (including a keep-warm coffee pot that hisses, a vacuum that burps, and a rice cooker that squeals.) It handily clears out the smell when I've accidentally left the window open above my next-door neighbors' weed smoking spot. It also keeps our room from reeking of farts after a night of post-beans sleep. Terrific purchase in the long run. I make sure to dust it regularly and pat it affectionately every day.

Quiet and Nicely Sized
I needed to air out my apartment after cleaning some storage boxes out of the back room and finding that they smelled like the mouse that moved in a few years ago. Apartment also tend to absorb the smells of the tenants (oils, sweat, cooking grease, kitchen garbage, and so on), since windows don't line up to allow air to pass through. It worked great, although it took a little time. It doesn't have any scent or air freshener that it can add, but it does the job. There are 4 speeds: I, II, III, and sleep. There is a timer that will shut the purifier off after 2, 4, 6, or 8 hours. This is a nice little machine for under a hundred bucks.

Changed out our fans
In our house everyone sleeps with a fan. Fans collect a lot of dust and blow it back into the air. So in a effort to provide cleaner air to our children we bought one of these to try in his room. He seems to sleep much better with the air cleaner. We will be buying one for every room. There is a sleep mode so you can set the timer for two, four, six, or eight hours. It works great for a gradual wake up. Our son also enjoys the noise level. He has sensitive hearing and likes that it’s more of a soft blow but loud enough for him to not hear the rest of the house. It does smell a little funny when it is in the process of cleaning the air in the room but after a while the smell goes away and the air doesn’t have much of a smell which is a good thing.

It's alright. Not a life changer or anything, unfortunately.
REVIEW UPDATE (May 7, 2023) I'm the idiot! I didn't realize the filter was CAKED with dust when I was inspecting from the outside. The filter still looked clean from the outside, but when I actually took the filter out and ran my finger across the mesh exterior, SO MUCH DUST was there. I proceeded to clean all of the caked-on dust from the mesh and discard it. After reinstalling the [now clean] filter, it works like a charm. Great product and I will definitely purchase another one for my living room. OLD REVIEW Purchased this expecting it to eliminate most of the dust in my apartment (or at least the room it's sitting in) but I swear it doesn't really do much. The filter barely seems dirty after almost a week of hard use and yet there's still tons of dust floating around. Doesn't pick up as much as I thought it would. It's 'alright' but I just kinda expected a little more for the price.

Content enough
I've been using this for a week now and I'm content with this overall. I bought one for my kids' room and my son does sneeze less at night and in the morning. Is it 100% no, but I didn't expect miracles. I bought one for my room too and it seems to work fine. The air conditioning is on and I bumped up my dusting from twice a week to 3 times so that may be what's helping as well. The fan is quite noisy especially on level 2 and 3, so I appreciate the 3 levels and the night mode is virtually silent. Overall, I'd recommend, I'll update at a later date after a few months use.

Good Air Purifier! Looks + Works Great
Impressed with this air purifier, has 3 modes you can set which aren’t too loud, you can set a timer for 2h/4h/6h/8h and has a sleep/nighttime mode which is quieter. I found easy to setup and use. It cleans the air well and looks great!

One of my favorite air purifiers - excellent smart features
I have a few air purifiers as follows: Blueair 411 - In Daughters room (suspected Asthma) and one in our room Phillips 800 - In our lounge Levoit (this one) - a later purchase for my baby son's room The Levoit is fast becoming my fave of all the purifiers we have used. It combines the 'fresh' room feeling that the Blueair purfiers do best (they are really top notch for cleaning the air in a bedroom) with some great smart features that simply work. I know we all expect smart devices to work - but many of them just don't. This Levoit which I have had since November works really well from the app with no glitches so far which is pretty impressive in my book - it does what it is told and the app always connects easily to the unit (again a basic thing but many companies have flakey app control so this is a breath of fresh air - excuse the pun). What I love about the smart features: - can set a schedule easily - can put on and off features remotely like childlock and turn the lights off - can see visuals of air quality history I originally had this Levoit without smart features but returned it and I am glad I did. The smart features allow you to maximise filter life and save electric by only running the purifier at times of the day it is really needed. So I set it for baby bedtime and it switches off in the early hours of the morning. I have had the filter in for 4 months and think it will get to 8 months or more as is showing around 58% left on the app. It runs about 10-12 hours a day using the timer to switch if off for the bulk period where no one is in the room. I like the record of air quality - I am not sure if my sons room is much better air than other rooms but one thing I find is it never goes off good air quality. You see the air quality get worse numerically when the purifier is off (and it improves once switched on) but it barely ever goes over 6-7 PM2.5 rating - certainly never in the 'bad' zone. The Phillips purfier we use downstairs shows poor air now and then but the lounge gets all the cooking air and more chance of dust being kicked up. So it might be that is the reason rather than the Levoit having a poor sensor. It is possible that the Phillips might have a much more sensitive detector. Hard to tell. really but worth noting. One thing I like to do when my son is napping not strictly to do with air quality is to increase the speed of the purifier to act as a white noise machine when there are noises outside his room - this stops him being disturbed and I can do it all from the app. The purifier is good looking - and easy to operate from the top panel or the app. Very quiet and smooth on the lower settings - not very intrusive even on louder settings. Importantly makes the air in the room feel very fresh and clean. Main thing for me is to see how the filter does over the next few months.
