Requires a bolt of proper length or you may need to cut the bolt to fit inside the cap.

This is an attractive cap, but if the bolt used to hold the toilet down to the floor is too long for your application, the bolt end may hit the inside of the cap and not let the cap bottom on the base flange of the toilet. Thus, the cap will be suspended slightly above the base flange of the toilet, leaving an unsightly gap so that a portion of the screw is visible. To correct this condition, it is then necessary to cut the bolt the "proper" amount so that the bolt is still long enough to fasten the toilet base to the floor, but the cap is not prevented by the screw length from reaching the base flange of the toilet.

Finally, no more chasing a toilet cap around the bathroom.

These caps are taller and fit perfectly over too long bolts. I have been chasing caps around the bathroom floor for years waiting to have the bolt trimmed. No more! Very satisfied.

DIRECTIONS ARE A SECRET!!!

Directions fail to even mention that the little triangle base pieces have a top and bottom side. Meaning the 3 'arms' of each piece are shaved to a slight angle. If you try to insert the wrong side into the cap it's not going to fit. I had actually called to return them but kept struggling to insert the base piece and finally realized there is a top and bottom so I canceled the return. They could have mentioned this in the little scrap of paper directions.

Too short

You may need to take a hacksaw to the screw. These are a bit short.

Nice and tall

I spent a lot of time with the hacksaw trying to get the bolts cut down on a Kohler toilet I bought. One I got down far but the other was 2 mm to tall. Since it was almost at the nut I decided not to try cutting any more off. Over the past year, the cap that came with the Kohler toilet continued to fall off every time I washed the floor. The caps that came with their toilet were way too small. I found these online at Amazon and I thought I would take a stab in the dark to see if they might fit and I was so pleased the day I got them because they snapped right on with no trouble whatsoever. I know that it says they’re made for American standard but they actually fit the Kohler toilet. It looks much better now and the cap is not falling off anymore.

Easy to install. Fits tall bolts so you don't need to cut them.

Fits Over the Tall Toilet Bolts

I bought these caps to replace two shorter caps that did not seat due to the excessive length of the toilet bolts. The caps fit over top of the bolts just fine but the threaded retainer clips supplied with them did not match the thread pitch or size of the toilet bolts so could not be used. That said, I left the original clips in place and installed the cap over them. The cap does stay in place but very loosely, it can be easily knocked off. I would have preferred a cap that was a direct replacement for the shorter version so it would snap into place snugly, but this one will do.

Can't buy these in stores

I tried Home Depot + Canadian Tire and all they had was the little cups that sit on top of the bolt which inadvertently fly off when you clean it or if you have a cat. These were exactly what I needed. A piece to screw over the bolt and place the cap securely on top. Highly recommended!
