I love this a lot more than I probably should
I got this because I had a giftcard. It didn't make sense to spend money on something you can essentially recreate with a mason jar and a plastic bag. But wow, I love it. It fits perfectly on my fridge door, it keeps cilantro good for SO LONG. I am cooking for one, so I hate buying fresh herbs only to have them need to be thrown away before I've used them all. Is this a necessary gadget? Of course not. But it has definitely been super helpful and saved me money in the long run.

Perfect for big bunches of basil
I bought this to keep the hydroponic basil I buy at the local market. I just add a bit of water to the bottom to keep the roots damp and change the water daily. I don’t need to refrigerate, just keep it on my counter (without the lid on top) and it last about two weeks.

Amazing!
This actually works so well!! This has kept my herbs fresh for over a month now. I will say you should add in an inch of water to the bottom and to take out any withering herbs as you go but this really works!

OXO design intern’s first product
This herb keeper just doesn’t seem up to the usual OXO standard. Yes, it probably gets the job done, but the attention to detail is lacking and the materials don’t feel premium. First and worst, the lid just lays there on top. It sure would be nice, for something that will have some liquid in it, to have a nice secure fit, a satisfying click, or a clasp of some sort. Surely most people are going to at some point grab this by the top, and when they do it’s going to drop and spill the herbs and water onto the counter or floor. Second, the main container is a soft, cloudy plastic. Not sure why OXO didn’t use the beautiful, crystal-clear plastic from the Pop storage container line. If you’re going to use below-average materials, at least make me feel good and tell me this product kept 100 plastic bottles out of a landfill. But it didn’t do that—it’s just ugly for no reason. Ultimately, I returned this herb saver and kept the Progressive PrepWorks ProKeeper Herb herb saver instead.

Perfect, except the lid
This is the second one we have purchased. We got a different size to accommodate different sized herbs. The product works well as described, and the herbs keep so much longer and fresher with this. My only (small) complaint is that the lid does not lock, and can come off easy. So i usually have to keep a rubber band around the container. Otherwise it’s great.

Worth it!
Keeps my cilantro stay fresh for longer! I bought a bundle of cilantro from the grocery store and I was able to stretch it out for three weeks. It's perfect!

Work Fantastically!
I purchased two of these; both the large one and the smaller one. I use and highly recommend them. I had wilting parsley and cilantro in my refrigerator when the herb keepers arrived. I added water to the keepers up to the fill lines on each one, placed the parsley in one and cilantro in the other one making certain there were no leaves in the water. I put them both in the refrigerator. Within a short time I checked their condition. I was absolutely amazed. Both the cilantro and parsley look as fresh as the day I bought them. As of this writing, it’s been well over a month. I’ve used nearly all the parsley but what’s left is still very fresh. The cilantro is the same way. Additionally, I had a few green onions left over from another recipe so I added those to the larger keeper with the cilantro. It’s been a couple weeks and I’m pleased to report the onions are equally fresh. Most reviews I read before I made the purchase said it was necessary to change the water at least every couple days. I’ve found once a week to be more than adequate. I believe the key is to be certain there are no leaves below the waterline. As other reviewers commented, they do take up quite a lot of space in the refrigerator. If you have a small apartment size refrigerator that you keep well stocked, you may want to consider only the smaller of the two sizes. Fortunately, I have a large capacity fridge. I put the small keeper in the door and the large one where I keep larger containers. Now I’ll address the economic factor versus convenience. At a cost of only $.50 a bunch for common everyday herbs like parsley and cilantro, it will take me a long time to recover the investment of the herb keepers. For me, it’s about convenience. I’m a once a month or less grocery shopper. I like to buy in bulk because I hate going shopping. I also like to cook and I enjoy the convenience of having fresh herbs available without having to make a dash to the market. For me, it was definitely worth the investment.

These OXO Herb Keepers Store More than Just Herbs
Purchased and using both sizes of the OXO Greensaver Herb Keepers. Another OXO great idea. The Large size is ideal for storing carrots submerged in water. Keeps those crisp, fresh and not sprouting roots. Much longer storage than compared to the fridge crisper drawer. Also perfect for storing fresh asparagus so the stalks can stand in water at the bottom. Again staying crisp and fresh longer. You just need to rinse and change the water periodically - all made easy by the removable collander basket inside. Buy those 5 lb bags of carrots with confidence. And of course as intended, these keep herbs from my garden fresh and handy during season. Recommended!

Almost Perfect!
I really love this product but it does have at least one issue that can be potentially problematic - but first the positive! The size! It’s quite spacious in the container for lots of herbs (either of one type or multiples) and the container itself doesn’t take up too much shelf space. It’s tall though so it’s definitely geared towards top shelves in refrigerators. For size comparison, look at my photo with a standard 500ml water bottle beside it. The container also has a water line on the bottom to indicate where to fill water to at the bottom without getting herbs overly soggy. I sometimes fill over this depending on the herbs I have placed inside. You are supposed to replace the water every few days or so but I truthfully forget to do this and haven’t had any issues. The nice thing is though that the gated compartment within the container does make changing the water easier as you can just lift out the inner part, dump the old water, replace with new water, replace the inner compartment back inside, and boom you’re in business. I do find this does help keep the herbs fresher longer but I find if I put too much inside and overcrowd the herbs then they go moldy just as easily as in a storage bag. As I mentioned at the beginning, there is one major issue with this product that really comes down to how clumsy of a person you are and/or if you have butterfingers syndrome like me. The lid does not snap on but rather just slides on and off with minimal effort. This is problematic and easy for a disaster to happen should it get knocked over in the fridge or elsewhere, or someone lifts it out too close to the top of the container thinking the lid is secured. I definitely wouldn’t let little ones hold onto this for this reason. Plus once the container has sat in the fridge and gets cool and slippery, this increases the chance for an accident. Overall it’s a very good product but I do wish they would make the lid snap onto the top. If they did that I would give it a 5/5!

Not sure it's worth the space
This does keep herbs well, but it's huge! Takes up half the door shelf (it doesn't fit in the main fridge, too tall) so I've stopped using it
