Everyday toy
My toddler is obsessed with this toy and it gets him talking more. He pulls it from his shelf to play with at least once a day since we got it 6 months ago. He puts the fish on the hook and says “got it”, and then we say “get the net!” He loves the excitement, then we shake the net with the fish in it, take it out and measure the fish by counting out loud. He loves the worms too, and likes to “catch,” those instead of using them as “bait.” I wish all of his toys were this well loved! Absolutely recommend!

3 year old son loves it.
I wanted to give it a 4 1/2 star review. My son loves this and it’s so cute. My only issue is the strings come off way to easily and it’s annoying to feed it through and tie it and it does happen often. Also the string are very short and I’m sure it’s some safely requirement so I may change them out at some point but other then that it’s such a cute toy.

Good quality Playset, realistic fish
Like everything made by Melissa & Doug, this set is sturdy and durable. As avid real-life fisherman, I appreciate that are much more realistic looking than most other fishing play sets, which come with an odd assortment of goofy looking cartoon fish. My 5 year old recognized the walleye, bass, & northern pike right away, having fished for them many times in real life. He also recognized the catfish from watching fishing tv shows. The only two he didn’t recognize immediately was the salmon and trout … not because they’re any less realistic looking, but because those aren’t fish he has any experience with. He loves fishing so much, and plays with this set almost every day in between real life fishing trips. He even used it as part of his Halloween costume this year! I used a rubber band to attach one of the fish to one of the poles so that it wouldn’t fall off during trick or treating and it held up beautifully. He got lots of compliments on his costume. I love all the little extra touches too — how the poles snap on to the little carrying case, so you don’t have to carry them separately, and how the line actually reels in. The little information booklet is made of a sturdy plastic material that will last forever, and even provides some ideas for games on the back. Overall wonderful set and I look forward to checking out some more of the “outdoorsy” Melissa and Doug sets in the future.

Super cute
Got this for my nephew who is 4. He loves it! It can be a little tricky because it’s hooks not magnets. The only complaint is that the strings on the pole are super short so you literally have to sit on the floor and use it. Very cute toy though!

Expensive but most kids toys are
It’s a good educational toy but I think it’s expensive for what it is, little one played a few times and now the fishing game just sits there.

Great product, however disappointed with missing items.
I was disappointed when I received this item, as it was missing items (the ruler and fishing license, ). This was suppose to be a brand new item and yet it was missing items. I was planning on using this in my classroom so the children could measure the fish, so this is disappointing.
