Two year lifespan
I loved this white noise machine, other than the fact that they have a relatively short lifespan. My first broke within 6 months of purchase, and the second after two years. Not a terrible lifespan for a relatively affordable product. If you plan on using your white noise machine for a long period of time, though, you may want to invest in something a little more well-made.

beautiful sound
I have been using these devices for 50 years. I like the single level of these as the bilevel sound machines were unnecessary for me. These are less expensive and sound the same. The intensity of the sound is perfect for sleeping and/or studying.

Lasted almost 4 years
I have used this every night for almost 4 years, can't sleep without it. I have never even turned it off, it's just been running nonstop. It just made a funny noise and died, so I'm up at 1 am (unable to sleep) purchasing another one and writing this review.

Volume
Overall pleased, but it's not ideal for anyone who has a hearing impairment. Purchased for an elderly gentleman to use at night. He stated it isn't loud enough.

Wish it were louder
I wish it were just a tad louder. I have to use this in conjunction with another one to have enough white noise to sleep well. In all fairness though, I am a light sleeper, and if I could, I would have an industrial fan on for white noise if my husband would let me. I do love how smooth the sound is though.

Way Too Quiet
I'm a light sleeper and I need white noise to get any sleep at all. I picked this up hoping for a non-digital solution and I'm sorry to say this is just far too quiet even on loudest. My ideal white noise is a box fan at full blast; I like to tape a filter to the back (you can pick box fan filters up at hardware stores) to reduce the wind and get a little air filtering out of it. Compared to that noise level this unit is a quiet whisper, and don't get me wrong I wasn't expecting box fan levels of noise, but from a machine designed specifically to produce wind noise I did expect far louder at max setting. I've since switched to a digital speaker and I must say I'm far happier with that solution even though it's imperfect (I can sometimes notice the loop if I listen carefully and that's a bit nerve wracking and the sound is a bit tinny). If you're like me you can't use your phone because it's too high pitched and grating so you're thinking of this -- I recommend against it. The moral of the story is you get what you pay for with these. If you want a budget white noise solution that's actually loud you can either buy a box fan or a cheap digital speaker.

Fantastic machine
I discovered the wonders of this simple white noise machine while staying at major chain hotel room and took notes about the brand and model. When I got back home I ordered one on Amazon hoping to surprise my wife on an upcoming family. Long story short she loved it too and now uses it every night by her side of the bed. If you're in an urban environment and can't seem to sleep a really deep sleep, then do yourself a favor and get one of these. I don't even have any problem falling asleep at night and I highly recommend it to block out the urban racket from sirens, car horns, garbage truck shock waves and roving disco clubs on four wheels that are all the rage today with the young males with size insecurities. You'll wake up feeling like you sleep very well and laugh through breakfast at the futile, juvenile exploits of the urban males with physical deficiencies but very large car speakers.

Big fan of the no fan device
My newest sleep apnea machine seems to make more background noise than my former one. This little device is able to cover that sound well, and drowns out many other sounds that could wake my wife. It's a great buy if you simply want a constant white noise to help you remain asleep. Despite the name, I do not do Yoga with this machine, unless downward man sleeping counts.

Almost
This machine makes a fantastic wind sound that is unfortunately mixed in with a slight metallic rattling/ringing that fades in and out randomly. It sounds like a light rain falling down an eaves. I found it impossible to sleep to because it wasn't constant or soothing. A real shame since the wind noise was excellent.

Cheaply made, broken after a month's use.
We purchased the two speed sound machine for our daughter over two years ago, and love it. We use it every day and have recommended it to all our friends. This particular model does not compare. From the start, we had to set the machine down on a paperback book or similar soft surface, otherwise the machine would vibrate, causing a loud, unpleasant hum. Four weeks after we started using it the power button broke, and we can no longer use it at all. Very frustrating as our newborn is now used to the white noise and we have to do without. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on the classic two speed model.

Just OK.
This product fulfills its promise of providing fan noise. Why did I only give 3 stars? 1) for simple fan noise, it is bigger and heavier than I expected - certainly not sufficiently compact for travel. 2) Inadequate volume - I have it set at the max volume, and it is barely sufficient.

Great unit not super loud.
This is a great little unit!! Easy to use and love that it's just on or off no time yet can still control volume. Also love that it's just the fan noise without a totally blowing any air. It was unfortunately not as loud as the previous one I had and I wish I'd listened to the reviews that stated that. Just wasn't quite loud enough to fully block out a noisy toddler so my newborn could sleep. But works great in our room when hubby is sleeping.
