Replacing old ones - mostly good
First of all, I bought this exact model in a Home store about 7 years ago. I have loved the method of filling that did not require me to soot my hands by unscrewing a wick and top, placing dripping wick somewhere, filling, then reversing. Here I just pour it into the bowel on top. I have read here about several who say it is hard to get right in the hole. Honestly, I never even knew I was supposed to twist to close the hole at the bottom of the bowel and just let it stay open and did not worry about the excess in the bowel. It would burn more flames at first because of the excess but never had a problem or felt unsafe. For fun I tried twisting my old one to see if the mechanism might not be new and not existed back then, but it twisted just fine so seems I should have been doing all along. The upper part seems just as strong as my old one, and also a slight bit bigger. It does have a magnet with about the same magnetism. I saw people complaining there was no magnet, and that is not my finding on the one I received. I live in a S Florida and found it adequate. I think some of others' problems may be that you have to be precise on getting it covered without any tilt. The pole is now screw together segments of much thinner metal. It makes sense when thinking about shipping. I have not tested its sturdiness, but suspect it would not sustain much pressure. Fortunately my old poles will screw in to the new tops, so that's what I'm doing. The reason I am finally replacing is the one in the picture finally had the bottom 3 inches of pole rust off after many years of being put into a plastic slot from an old pool fence. This caused it to take a swim in my pool while I was away a couple weeks. Rusted out the top too bad - but years of using at least 6 days a month were taking their toll anyway, though they still worked. Came boxed well and intact and on time. Ordering the rest now since the first checked out. **NEW info I cut my old sturdy poles and screwed on new tops. I filled as I used to and did not bother changing old procedures. Poured in fuel. Left twist to close hole open and had some slop overfill (I’m in to convenience). Got a series of photos. Pretty tame, then a bit violent like I am used to, then it calms down to great torch glow. I think this was with a wick length left to the shipping and a bit longer than I used to have (by the way, I think I had the same wicks for years on last ones…..). I may shorten as the intense period was a bit more than before. Overall, I have had 20 years of tiki type lamps and these are the most convenient and attractive. For 20-25 bucks and multi year use (I’ll see if these hold up), they are a value. UPDATE: used about 10 times. Work great. No problem rotating opening. Lid holds in rain and wind.

I have 3; a DETAILED honest review :)
I have 3 of these now. I LOVE them! I've never had Tiki torches before, but really wanted to get some cuz I just moved from the city to the suburbs and I actually have a yard now! Anyways, read reviews, looked at prices, this was the cheapest and most highly rated torch. It ships in a medium sized box that is fairly light as it comes disassembled. It takes 2 minutes to assemble and it so easy. The poles twist on to one another to create the pole upon which the tiki torch will sit. One of the poles is pointed at the bottom to help aid in really grounding the pole into the ground before twisting the tiki torch lantern on top. I wouldn't suggest putting it all together with the lantern on top before then digging the pole into the ground, getting it the right height and straight, etc. So, once you have the sharp pole grounded in your yard, use a mallet to knock it down and make it as straight in the ground as possible so that when you twist on the other rods on top of it, it'll stand straight and you won't have to bend at the places that screw together the rods while trying to push the whole pole into the ground. I also put a wood chip from our landscaping or a stick parallel to the torch pole on the sides (or any one side it seems to be leaning to if it won't get as straight as you want it to be) and use the mallet to knock those into the ground alongside the pole for reinforcement from wind or rain making the ground softer (not that it won't get un-straight in those conditions ever (LOL) but it isn't detrimental and you won't have it tip over and lose your fuel (which is more expensive than the torches and you don't really need to replace the wicks it comes with so that is the only expense) I would STRONGLY suggets you get the funnel that is suggested to purchase with the torch because where it is not necessary for the functionality of the torch, it does help with spillage (not for fire hazard safety issues, but for conservation of fuel more than anything). On the note of purchasing the reccomended items with the torch, I was so angry when I bought the Tiki brand oil that was Amazon's Best Choice and was the reccomended fuel when I bought the torch. The oil literally did not burn. In my opinion, you gotta pay extra for most things not to be flammable and this is the one thing whose job is to be flammable....like, that is it's ONLY job....and it can't do it. I wasn't doing it wrong as a first-timer either as I now have several and look back on what steps I took to fill the torch and light the wick (its not rocket science either, guys). I REALLY like the Firefly brand of citronella torch fuel! Worked great! Well, it WORKED, unlike the Tiki brand lol. The torch comes with everything you would need right in the box, no need for tools to assemble, just pick a spot, stick the bottom spike rod into the ground where you want it, twist the other rods on top of that once the spike is grounded, FILL THE TIKI TORCH LAMP WHILE PLACED FLAT ON A FLAT SURFACE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU ARE POURING AND AIMING THE OIL AND THEN TWIST IT ON TOP AFTERWARDS, I removed and saturated the wick and then replaced it first because of my previous experience with the other oil cuz I wanted to be sure it would ignite right away but it is not necessary I don't think - I'm not 100% sure, then light it! That's all! It is easy to put out, I was scared I would burn myself but, you won't, I promise! Hope that helps!! Let me know if you would like more details.

Cap falls off
Look and burn well, but the cap keeps getting pushed off by the wind and never stays on the flimsy chain link. So ive lost one cap and cant cover the wick anymore. Would've been 5 star if the cap was clipped on instead of a weak magnet holding it

Beautiful tiki torches!!!
Love these tiki torches! They are providing the exact ambiance that I am looking for in my yard. The only issue that I am having is that the product video shows a foot stabilizer which provides support and sturdiness to the torch. The torches did not come with foot stabilizers so now it is easier to lean to one side. I currently have 4 of the same tiki torches that DO have the foot stabilizer and they are perfectly straight and do not lean.

looks nice... but the caps are not magnetic
I bought these as a replacement for old torches I have had for years.... they look nice and work well and time will tell if they hold up as long as the other ones... we live in southern California so there isn't a lot of rain.. I don't expect them to rust quickly... on the plus side.. the filling mechanism is way easy and cleaner to deal with. as torches go they burn as well as any other. on the minus side... both the description on the item as well as the printed instructions that come with them all mention magnetic caps. There is no polite way to say this but that is just a bold faced lie... they are definitely not magnetic at any level. As a matter of fact, when using them to snuff out the flame they can easily just slide off the top if you use any force trying to flip them over the flame. Also... don't be misled by comments about a bigger flame... they use the same wicks as any other torch... however … if you overfill them so that fuel runs into the bowl at the top it will burn larger until the fuel burns down to a proper level... I suspect the damage shown in some of the other reviews ma be related to that I would not recommend that for any reason.

Amazing flame ????
I have 4 of these torches in my backyard. Overall i really like them and they have held up well so far (owned 2 months). The flame size is really nice and there are definitely wind resistant. They are stable and definitely easy to fill up. Room for improvement would be more durable metal on the upper grate. One of the torches that I received was dented and crunched

Do not put under any patio covers. Meant for outside only.
Love this product. Purchased two. We made sure we secured them carefully with the proper base. We had a tropical themed baby shower. They were perfect for welcoming guests at our front gate entrance...Good quality...easy to use.
