Two color light weight small flashlight just like I wanted

I have carried a small flashlight for several years in my pants pocket and the old one wore out. It was no longer made, and it was hard to find a replacement. As an amateur photographer I wanted a red beam for night photography and a bright white beam in a small pocketable, light weight flashlight. This is the best one I could find to replace the old one no longer made. I'm quite pleased with it.

Excellent light!

Excellent light! It is one of Coast’s less expensive models. I do own some of the more expensive ones, but I have to say this one is my preference for walking outside at night. This light is very bright and has a long focus distance on its lens, so it is more suitable for outside use. You’ll get a brighter spotlight at 150 feet compared to higher lumen flashlights that lack the focus distance for outdoor use. Plus, the red non-night-vision-ruining option is perfect for walking at night. Just bright enough so that you can see where you are going. Another thing must be mentioned: coast flashlights have an *excellent* light color quality compared to cheaper LED flashlights. Take a coast flashlight and point it at a tree at night: the leaves will actually look green. Take a cheapo LED flashlight (even a bright one) and point it at the same tree, and the leaves will just look bluish-gray. I also like the fact that the lens focus is fixed. Frankly, all of the Coast flashlights with adjustable focus are just a pain in the neck outdoors. Their focus always changes when the flashlight is in your pocket. Comparing this PX20 flashlight with the very similar-sized (but more expensive) PX1R model rechargeable flashlight, the PX1R is more designed for indoor use. Even though it has adjustable lens focus, even at maximum distance you can’t get as nice of a spotlight as you get with this PX 20. And the lack of a red option makes it less ideal for night walking. Bottom line: this flashlight is great. Excellent quality light, and very bright. Out of the several models of Coast flashlights which I own, this is the one I find myself using the most often (especially outdoors) even though it is the least expensive.

Unfortunate Button Placement

Be careful where this device is stored. In a flight bag, or similar high movement storage areas, the side buttons are easily activated and I have found it on in my bag multiple times. The included carrying case is not rigid and does not prove any additional protection against unintended activation. The body quality feels good and the size is perfect, but unfortunately it goes through batteries since its easy to accidentally turn on.

Quality light that works

Had a light from coast that was virtually the same for years. Used it every day. Buttons finally wore out and needed a new one. The light is bright white light. Great indoors. Ok outside but does not reach far away. But not designed to. More powerful lights are needed for this. But out to 50ft or so ok. But is a broad beam light. Not a narrow spotlight. So in my opinion ok as I only use this as a close up light indoors, the garage, closets or letting the dog out and keeping an eye on them close to the house. Red light great for night time. Use it frequently to go to the bathroom at night or to the kitchen and not have to turn on the white light so I wouldn't blinded turning it on in the dark. Its durable metal case lasts and is well made. Only down side is battery only lasts as long as described on their site. I use rechargeable batteries in mine. I use Eneloop pro in mine and recharge them in the day and ready to go at night. I recharge maybe once a month. If light is heavily used it may need recharged sooner. This light has no clip on it to attach to pocket or shirt pocket though. Bought a light from coast that was slightly large that had that. I love these little lights and would recommend them.

Good quality torch.

The product description is a little misleading as I got the newer 315-lumen model and not the older 125-lumen model. Very sturdy light.

There are two buttons on the light, one for the white and one for the red led, that are on opposite sides of the barrel. In the dark it’s hard to tell which one is for which even though the one is slightly textured. I found rotating the belt clip so that it covers most of the white led button, which I use the least, works really well. I really dislike flashlights with multiple modes, other than maybe a high and low. I have no use for strobe and SOS and I don’t want to cycle through this BS. This light just has the on/off function which is perfect.

Very handy for night photography. Buttons need to be different.

Very handy for night photography. I love the red and white in one unit. I took off one star for two reasons (half star each): 1 - the buttons should have a better way of determining which is which by touch. The ever so slightly knurled button for the red LED is so hard to feel in the dark and cold. Half the time I end up blinding myself or someone else from hitting the wrong button. Make one of them obvious - small button and large button, or something more easily distinguishable. Make one on the butt and one of the side of the case? Press once for red, press and hold for white? 2 - the buttons get pressed easily while in the case. Many times I pull this out of my backpack to find that one of the buttons has gotten pressed while in it's case in my bag and it's turned on, wasting battery (which does actually last a long time). Maybe make them slide switches? Or recessed under rubber membrane and flush with the case?

Terrible buttons

Would be a great flashlight if the buttons were better. Constantly finding out (due to dead batteries) that the buttons have been accidentally switched on while in my pocket. Use it in flight suit while flying in plane. If they buttons were better, it would be a better review.

Good for sailors

If you work on any ships you know bright white lights aren’t welcome in any bridge/wheelhouse so if you need a good LED light for these specific needs I highly recommend
