Beautiful appearance and the faucet handles have a nice action

Having bought and installed one of these faucets in a powder room a couple of years ago -- and been very pleased with it -- I bought and installed a second one in another bathroom this week. I am, once again, very pleased with its appearance and operation. Installation was quite easy, with one problem (in both bathrooms): the space between the rear of the basin and the wall is so tight that it is extremely difficult to thread the hot/cold mixing ‘T’ onto the spindle of the spout; and then even more difficult to screw the two hoses from the faucets onto the ‘T’. If you face this problem (and even if you don’t, my solution has merit for making assembly easier), you could do what I did and leave the ‘T’ “floating” clear of the spindle -- by connecting the output hole of the ‘T’ to the spout spindle with a short flexible male-to-female connector hose. The tricky bit is finding a hose that fits. The standard connector threads do not match the spindle and the output hole of the ‘T’. What I did was to buy a spare Kohler faucet hose type GP73151-A, the female end of which fits the spindle, and then carefully saw off the smooth section of the male end (the part with the ‘O’ ring) with a fine-tooth hacksaw, just beyond where the thread ends. Without the smooth ‘O’ ring section in the way, the male end then threads into the output hole of the ‘T’ (with some thread-seal tape on the thread to make sure the connection is watertight). Aside from this, installation of the spout and faucets went very smoothly and took only a couple of minutes per part.

Kohler faucet

This is a very nice faucet. It flows well & shuts off with no drips. Installation of the faucet to the sink is easy & requires only a screwdriver, not a special wrench. However, the supply hoses are short & did not reach the shutoff valves. Kohler does not have an extension hose & could not even offer a specific solution. Fortunately, HomeDepot was able to modify a supply hose to make it work, no thanks to Kohler. Also, the hoses on the faucet are very flexible & will kink as they are installed on the supply valves. If you do not notice this, it can drastically restrict water flow. You may think the faucet is the problem but check the hoses to insure they are not twisted. Once installed properly it is an excellent faucet.

beautiful and heavy, and (update) it DOES hold water

Just like the other reviews said, this is beautiful and very heavy. My only issue is with the stopper. It doesn't seem to completely close, so water gurgles down the drain the whole time. Not sure if my contractor installed it wrong or what (he says he just followed instructions), or if that's just the way it is. I bought a total of 3 and only 1 installed at the moment, so I'll see what happens in the other two sinks. Update: After all 3 faucets were installed, I found the 2nd two did hold water, so had my contractor re-visit the first one, and it now holds water as well. So very happy with these.

Zero instructions

Choose Kohler forte single handle to make it easy on the kids. I’ve changed a few faucets but it’s been a decade so I was surprised when this one came with zero basic instructions since not all faucet’s install the same. Thank goodness for YouTube! So far works perfectly.

Disappointed in Design and Materials; Expected Better from Kohler

Admittedly, I do not have a tremendous volume of experience with bathroom faucet fixtures. However, I have two of these, and the one in my children's bathroom has broken for the second time now in the same place. Keep in mind my oldest is 8, so I rather doubt the child has enough strength to break this by sheer physical force in the first place, to say nothing of the younger, smaller children. As I am my own plumber, In my attempt to remedy the problem without ordering another replacement "seal plate", I've discovered several critical flaws that bring this whole product from tops to trash. I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy. Firstly, the seal plate, which acts as an internal stabilizer between the escutcheon plate and the upper assembly, in addition to providing for a water tight seal against the top of the sink itself, is a critical part, and it is a very weak part. The part of the seal plate which stabilizes the upper assembly against the escutcheon plate is literally two tiny vertical pieces of plastic, and when either one fails, the upper assembly can slide almost freely on the escutcheon plate at a distance of approximately 1/4" left, right, and forward. Secondly, the lift rod, which actuates the pop-up drain into the "stopped" position(so water stops draining from the basin) must have a small amount of friction against the brass washer installed on the one and only bolt holding the entire assembly together, in order for it to properly remain up when pulled to stop the pop-up drain plug. When the either of the two internal plastic pieces on the seal plate breaks, this friction disappears, which means you can no longer hold water in the basin properly, as the pop-up drain actuator falls freely, which in turn pushes the pop-up drain right back up. Finally, when one goes to replace the seal plate in order to fix the two problems above, the entire assembly including water supply lines must be disconnected, because it all fits through a hole in the center of the seal plate. This all results in an untenable situation, and one which could've been avoided completely by designing the seal plate with a slightly more robust stabilizing part. Kohler, to it's credit, has replaced the seal plate once at no charge, and I'll be submitting a second claim shortly for the same piece, as Kohler has a limited lifetime warranty for their faucets. However, I'm not sure how long I'm willing to put up with this if it continues to happen.

Beautiful and work great!

Just installed two of these in a new master bath renovation. Installation was fairly easy and straightforward. The look beautiful! I actually paired up with several other model lines (Kohler Purist and Delta) but all in polished chrome. They all match perfectly. These faucets work extremely well, much better than the ones they replaced....and much better than a brand new Delta faucet I just installed in the half-bath which was twice as expensive. Kohler has great quality and great customer service. These faucets are a reflection of that. The only minor issue was that the cold lever on one of the faucets was a little tight, but after a few days of use it has loosened up.

Faulty item

We replaced our original Kohler Forte (8 years old, started leaking) with this identical faucet, and unfortunately, the one we received has a faulty aerator and a stuck handle. It sprays all over the place no matter what our plumber - and later, us - have tried to do to fix it. Looking at all of the components, we can't see why there would be an issue. Again, we own three additional of these exact faucets (original) and are well aware of how to adjust them. Also, the left handle needs to be forced a bit, while the right turns as expected. So perplexed and disappointed!

Nice tap but check that the drain is right for your sin!

Love the tap and was so happy it came with the pop up drain assembly. Unfortunately it was for a sink with no overflow so not right for my sink! Shipping was fast. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there are 2 small scratches on the chrome finish, which I decided to live with because I didn't have time to return.

Poor design for DIY

Bought this faucet when it was on sale. At the time, I thought was a great deal given it was a Kohler product. I purchased a Kohler toilet before and the installation was so much easier than other brands. Thought it would be as easy. When I finally installed the faucet, I was completely wrong. The product was poorly designed. For example, you have to tighten a nut attached to the underside of the spout with a wrench under the sink. This is almost mission impossible because there is very little room to work with behind the sink under the cabinet. Other brands would provide a special wrench that allows you to tighten the nut coming directly over the nut. Not this one. There are other poor designs: the instruction says to use stainless putty to the underside of the spout. The putty instruction says do not use it over marble, granite and etc. Other brands simply provides a rubber washer or something like that. The faucet has a pretty good look. But I would not buy it again if I have to install it myself. It is a Kohler product but not a typical Kohler design.

It helps to remove the sink, attache the tap and reinstall the sink.

I was able to install the tap easily, although removing and reinstalling the sink proved a bit of a challenge given my amateur plumbing skills. It all looks good and it works as expected!
