If you're having trouble pairing this with Home Assistant...
These plugs make themselves unpairable after 15 minutes. Unplug them and replug them in to give yourself another 15 minutes. Longer explanation - I bought these, plugged them in one at a time to pair them with the Kasa app and perform firmware updates. This all went as expected. Once that was done, I started working on pairing them with Home Assistant. The first one paired, but I couldn't get any of them to pair after that. Turns out that by this time, I had simply exceeded the 15 minute timer. Once that 15 minutes is up, you can no longer pair them with any system. To restart the timer, disconnect power from the smart plug, then reconnect them. You'll now have 15 minutes to pair them again. After doing this, I was able to add them to Home Assistant via the Matter integration no problem. Worth knowing - as of this writing (HA v 2023.5.2) HA can ONLY control on/off of the plug. I still have to use the Kasa app to view power metering. I like these plugs a lot. Once I got past the HA pairing issue (which really turned out to be a user-error) and once I can get power monitoring working in HA instead of having to use the Kasa app, they'll be 5-stars. For now, though, I'm giving it 4 stars.

Great energy monitoring functions, Matter need some work
The new energy monitoring functions are a great addition to this plugs. Also noticed that are pretty fast in turning on/off after a voice command in comparison with previous version. However, you still need to use the KASA app to configure the plugs since using Smart things took like 2 tries per plug due to errors and you cannot update the firmware without KASA. I was never able to connect Smart Things with Google using Matter. Wish that the matter code is in the plug itself, and not a sticker. Also could be good to have a sticker with the 4 codes in the 4 pack like the one in EP25P4.

Instant Response
These are the first Matter smart plugs I have owned and use them with Apple Home Kit. Adopting the devices was seamless. I did not use the Kasa app, I simply scanned the barcode on the side of the plug and added to the Home App. When controlling with the Apple Home App, these smart plugs turn on/off immediately. I was using Belkin WeMo plugs via Thread and there would be a slight delay of up to two seconds before they would respond. These Kasa Matter smart plugs respond immediately, both in the home and remotely. I haven't had them installed real long, but so far they have been solid.

Couldn't add to HomeAssistant
These plugs worked fine for me within the mobile Kasa app but I wasn't able to add them to HomeAssistant via Matter or over Wifi

Does not work with Apple Home kit natively or through matter without a home kit hub
I was so excited for Matter - finally we could do away with all these stupid walled gardens. Unfortunately, we're not there. Each of the 3 big players, amazon, google, and maybe apple all require you to have some sort of hub device (amazon alexa, google home, or a home pod for example) for Matter to work. Seems like a bandaid rather than a good working solution for the problem. I wanted the also use this with my phone, but there's no point when your cheapest option is buying a $150 device from Apple.

Hello, I just can't get the tp-link (Kasa) Matter smart plug homekit KP125M to connect via HomeKit, it works fine via the Kasa app but I want it to go via HK for the matter option. I have retired router reboots etc. setting up 2.4 only still nothing via my Asus router. Anyone got these new Matter sockets linked via HomeKit successfully?

Almost impossible to add to network
Bought this to replace a failed single outlet of an earlier version. Plugged one of these new units in, in the exact same place as the failed unit which had been in this location for the past 8 years, and it couldn't get a signal. Tried another location, no signal. Walked it all the way back to right next to my router, no signal. Really,? This is what replaced a unit I had no trouble with for 8 years? Would not recommend purchase

More Power Control: A Kasa KP125M Matter Smart Wi-Fi- Plug Slim 4-Pack Review
The Kasa KP125M Matter smart Wi-Fi plug slim 4-pack, made in Vietnam, fits any standard electrical outlet and controls any lite-duty device under 15A/1800W. The smart plug only takes up one space, leaving the other outlet free for another smart plug or device. Features include remote access, scheduling, away mode, and voice control through Alexa. The three-step setup is simple; download the Kasa app, plug in the Kasa smart Wi-Fi plug, and configure the plug using the app. The Kasa smart Wi-Fi plug has a power button on the right side and an internal light in the top right corner to identify pairing and power on. This plug looks just like the mini appears the same as previous versions but with a matter QR code on the side. The app allows for setting a scene in the home or controlling a single device. In the devices section, one can power on/off the device, set schedules, use a timer, or create an away plan. The scheduling requires setting both an on and off time individually. This approach seems tedious, but there may be a need for one without the other. The Away function sets both the on and off times together. This routine randomly switches the plug on and off during the specified times, making your home appear inhabited. There is a wide variety of Wi-Fi-enabled lighting and power devices to choose from. Choosing the best-fitting option without concern for a specific brand can create unnecessary communication complexity. I currently use three apps to control the various plugs, switches, and bulbs around the house. Two of those apps include Tapo and Kasa, both TP-Link brands that may be controlled by one app in the future. I’m guessing this may be accomplished using Matter. However, Matter currently requires the use of a hub. It would be nice to have one app to control all my Wi-Fi-enabled devices. This is where Alexa is beneficial as I can tell Alexa to switch on or off any connected smart device. I can also create routines to control multiple devices from any brand with a single command. For instance, when I tell Alexa goodnight, all my smart devices are turned off except for a small fan I keep on all night. The Kasa KP125M Matter smart Wi-Fi plug is a simple way to control plugged-in devices. These plugs used to be the only option for controlling plugged devices. Today, TP-Link sellsKasa smart outlets , which provide a cleaner appearance. I’m sure the smart outlets eventually will include Matter technology and is a cleaner-appearing option. I like these small plugs for temporary items like holiday décor. The app is simple to learn and use, plus effective. If you’re searching for a modern outlet timer or more passive control of your lite-duty devices, this Kasa KP125M Matter smart Wi-Fi plug slim 4-pack is a great option. However, I’d hold off if you’re considering an upgrade of your older Kasa smart plugs. ► PROS: Simple set-up and use Alexa integration 2-year warranty Supporting app Bluetooth 4.2 ► CONS: Overpriced Dated idea
