Great for my use
Great for my use: just a heavy vise to hold tiny, light objects under my drill press. As you can see by the photo it has a single screw clamp: this isn't a milling x y axis table, it's just a nice little vise-that's why this isn't six hundred bucks like the Palmgren milling vise is. Basically this is a really heavy, low profile vise: clamp something in it, position the whole thing under the bit and drill your hole...all while the weight of the vise holds things steady and straight and keeps your fingers away from the bit and chuck. Out of the box the vise opened and closed super smooth and easy. There were lots of gummy, uncured globs of paint all over the vice: I think they paint the whole thing and then scrape off the semi-cured paint from the exposed metal areas shown in the photo. I just brushed them off with my hands and everything was fine. The vise had a huge number '3' cast into its frame, meaning the jaws spread 3 inches. If I was drilling anything larger it'd probably be heavy enough to not need a vice, or I could just use c-clamps. This is great for most of my more unusual drilling needs: watch parts, telescope and microscope parts, assorted knobs and doodads. Any little thing that would get my fingers too close to the chuck or lightweight things that my shatter or wobble without this. I was expecting to have to disassemble the vise and clean or fix things, but it works perfectly out of the box. The vice opens and closes very easily and quickly. A tool that's easy to use gets used more: no more holding things with pliers or flat on the table with my fingers, or clamping tiny things with a c-clamp and then clamping that clamp with another clamp to the table. This is simple, fast and safe. I'm pleasantly surprised! -mike from Detroit

Reasonable for the price
You get what you pay for. A proper drill press vise is hundreds of dollars… this is 50. As such you get unfinished edges, questionable heat treatment, lots of slop, and low quality acme thread. Luckily that’s fine for me and is worth the 50 bucks, but don’t expect a Wilton.

Works pretty good and will serve me well I am sure
For an around the house handyman this will fit the bill. This isn't a professional grade precision drill press vise and you may have to work on it just a bit to get smoother operation out of it. The jams don't move perfectly parallel but I didn't expect them too, they will straighten up as pressure is applied. I took it apart, removed paint over spray, and filed some of the poorly machined areas to smooth it out some and used a light coat of lubriplate on all of the surfaces where there was contact between moving parts. Works pretty good and will serve me well I am sure. This one weighs 4lbs 3oz and the jaw will open up to about 3-1/8", mine sets flat with no rocking. One other note, mine wasn't completely assembled (or it was just loosely assembled and came apart in the box) which was fine for me because it needed a little touch up anyway. I would say that it is pretty decent for the price.

Decent vice
Nice vice but a little bit too expensive 4 inch vices are everywhere but finding 6 inch an 8 inch low profile are almost impossible.

Excellent Value
It is well enough finished to operate smoothly throughout its travel and can be secured to the drill platform easily. It's only weakness is that the travelling jaw can lift in certain circumstances but that is easily avoided with care. For the price it's excellent value and works very well.

Could be tighter tolerances.
It's a little loose, quality not quite there.

Terrible Jaw lift. Worthless.
Terrible Jaw lift. Warped by 1/16 when trying to mount to table. Base and bed not close to parallel, even with 30 min of flat filing I could not get the bed level. This vice is honestly useless.

Purchaced for use with Rikon 8" drill press..No compaints at all.
Good solid vise. Works perfect with Rikon 8" drill press. I just had to smooth up the jaws with a big file there were some very sharp burrs on the edges
