Solid beginners paddle that's USAPA Approved!
This is a solid beginners paddle from a well-known reputable brand like Franklin. The price point is also reasonable being that its USAPA approved and has some nice max-grit technology behind it that will impart significant spin for those that enjoying using a lot of topspin. On the downside though is also the fact that the grit will wear off in about a few weeks of moderate play where the surface will eventually be somewhat smooth, and the amount of spin will reduce significantly. This is well known with these Franklin brands and although we may see pros using these Franklin paddles, I'm sure they get a new one with each match so the grit is always present while this would not be realistic for beginners nor even everyday players. All in all, a good beginners paddle before moving on to something much more expensive although sometimes it may be best to just start out high and not spend the money initially on a beginner paddle.

Great Paddle
This paddle is great for beginners and even intermediate players. The grip is nice and it has enough grit to make some spin shots.

A very nice, comfortable to hold paddle
I'm quite pleased with this Franklin paddle. It's really super comfortable in the hand with a nice grip that has comfortable ridges to enhance that grippiness. It is very light, but not in a way that feels at all flimsy. The paddle head itself feels super stiff and should allow a lot of control when in skilled pickle-ballers' hands. The surface of the paddle has a fine grit to it that will further enhance control, I'm sure. I also really like the fact that the entire perimeter of the head of the paddle is surrounded by a plastic layer that will come in handy every time I go for a low shot and scrape it on the ground. It'll keep the head from splintering, at least for a nice long while. The downside is I can imagine that a shot of the edge of the paddle could get slightly misdirected, as there is a lip to that plastic surround on the face of the paddles. I see that not being a common issue though. I'm no pickleball pro, mind you, but overall I really like this paddle.

Great beginner paddle
The Franklin Sports Pickleball Paddle - Pilot Polypropylene Core Pickleball Racket is a good beginner paddle. Some of my friends play pickle ball frequently and said that this was a good paddle for a beginner so I thought I should give it a try. I have tried to use inexpensive wooden paddles but found them to be heavy and not easy to maneuver. When the paddle arrived I opened the box immediately and liked the look of the paddle because the graphics are well done. The paddle fits well in my average sized female hands and it's light weight yet sturdy. I think it is a bit short but it fits my needs for now. Compared to the mostly wood paddle I already own I would say this is much better quality. I am not a paddle authority but I like this paddle and will feel like my new paddle might help me improve my game.

Solid beginner to intermediate paddle
I’ve heard good things about Franklin paddles and gave this a try. It has a large face and the grit surface is good for spin. The grip circumference measures near 4.125” and is comfortable for someone with smaller hands. The grip wrap has grooves which helps to prevent slipping. Some people may not like the shorter handle length but it’s not an issue for me. My dad and I play pickleball a couple times each month. We have tried several paddles including more expensive Joolas. This lightweight paddle has good pop. It does feel a little stiff compared to the thicker Joola and so I feel some vibration. This is probably because it is thinner at 10mm. I felt like I could still make good shots. For the $50 price this is a great paddle to get into pickleball and work on skills.

Upgrade your racquet
My experience with pickleball racquets is somewhat limited, but growing, as is my time with the game. This racquet, which is the 3rd one I've used in my short, 3 year history, is a real upgrade for me. This is a beautiful racquet with a tacky, comfortable grip. The action is lively and the textured surface is going to help improve spin for me (and for those of us who want to put spin on every shot). The sound generated is similar to other honeycomb racquets and definitely better than the multiply wooden racquet that I started with. Weight-wise, it feels perfect to me, although my wife finds it a little too heavy for her.

Pro paddle without the pro price.
The Franklin Pilot Polypropylene Core Pickleball Racket is an awesome pro level paddle but without the pro price. It has an sufficient amount of surface grit and feels great in the hand. The design of this paddle is cool too.

Better value but thinner profile.
If you are new to choosing pickleball paddles, know that this one is on the thin side, but it offers good value. My picture compares it to a Franklin Pro Signature series 16mm that sells for double the price of this one. You could also get a 13mm for about double the price of this one. The biggest difference is the thickness and handle size. The weight is about the same, and the gritted texture is the same. This one is made a little wider and shorter. I'd say this one offers a much better value than the Franklins around $100 if you are okay with the 10mm thickness and the shorter handle.
