Good quality; serves intended purpose; attractive
I wanted a discreet timer that would alert me every hour to step away from my desk and walk up and down the fire tower stairs for a couple of minutes to improve circulation. I wanted a silent vibrating timer that I could clip to my waistband or belt or slip into my pocket so that the sound wouldn't disturb my coworkers or alert them every time I left my desk. The timer is an attractive matte silver color with grey buttons and a small brand name logo at the top (thankfully not "kitchen timer" white with a loud logo). It seems well built. The "start" and "stop" buttons were not accidentally pressed when I slipped the timer into my pocket. The clip works well. The magnet works well. The stand works well. The numbers are large and easily read. The light flashes a nice bright red. The volume is good quality without being piercing. The vibration is easily felt. However, the vibrating mode is NOT SILENT. It can be heard by anyone standing next to you or in your work area, even if it's in your pocket. It's less disruptive than the volume mode, but it is definitely not silent. However, I will keep the timer because it IS silent in the light flashing mode, and that makes this worthwhile for me. When you try your unit, you may think the batteries are dead; they are not. You must open the battery compartment and remove the small strip of plastic that you'll see covering one end of the battery. Once this is removed and the battery reinserted, the unit works. I am writing this after testing the unit; however, I don't know how long the batteries last. I don't know if they run down quickly. If you won't be using your unit for a while or need it only for special occasions, you may want to reinsert that plastic tab on the end of the battery again; you will notice that the number display disappears when you do this. I saved that strip and store it in between the two batteries in the unit, in case I want to use it and save battery life. There are buttons on the front and buttons on the back of the unit. The front buttons are easily pressed. The back buttons are tiny and must be pushed up and down, and they require moderate pressure. You will need at least a little bit of fingernail to move them, as they are somewhat recessed. It is not a struggle, as long as you have some fingernail (or the point of a click pen, with the point retracted) to work with. Bottom line, I am disappointed that the vibration is not silent (hence the four stars), but otherwise very happy with the purchase. Note that the first unit I received was sealed in the original package, but when I opened it the clip on the back was detached with the clip, spring, and pin all separate. I contacted Amazon and they shipped me a new one within a couple of days no charge; however, I will have to return the defective unit within a month (they credit for postage) to ensure that I'm not charged for both. I was happy with their customer service; it was hassle-free.

uses good ole AAA batteries
I was hunting for one of these for my mom whom is legally blind and hard of hearing. its small, uses good ole AAA batteries, and has a clip. but it does have its design flaws. allow me to give a quick list here. pros: 1. small. 2. vibrates, beeps, and flashes. 3. can be set for minutes/seconds or hours/minutes via switch on back. 4. light, vibration, and beeper can all be turned off/on via switches on back. cons: 1. those switches on the back are recessed so if your visually impaired they are hard to find. 2. the beeper is no where near loud enough for some one thats hard of hearing and its high pitch which of course is the first part of a persons hearing to go, usually. 3. the vibrator that should make up for 2 above is very weak when the unit is worn on a belt etc, ive had cell phones with stronger vibrators. 4. the LED lights are dim, i think they are red. knowing this is supposed to be accessible you would think they would know this color is hard to see with vision problems. they should have used bright white or blue instead. (in fact, blue would be cheaper for them as its the natural color of LED lights.) 5. the display is very hard to see and due to a design defect the screen fades in and out due to unequal pressure being applied to the LCD screen, this is sadly a design defect and would need a redesign to fix, LCD screens do not take kindly to being "squished", i was able to fix this by slightly loosening the screws on the unit. all that said, this is one of the few such units i was able to find, and even with these slight flaws it works, and we can work around these issues. for visually impaired folks i would recommend having some one use some roseart paint to "mark" the switches.

Talk about a fatal flaw!
I got this as a portable 'alarm clock' that I could carry to remind my self to do things at a certain time in the future. It's nearly useless for that. The basic functions are perfect: Your choice of audible alarm, vibration, or flashing light in and any combination of those. The timing functions are exactly what I wanted and intuitive. There's no way to turn the thing off -- it draws so little power that batteries will last shelf life when not running one of the alarms. BUT I just about can't use it because there's no way to control the 'stop the alarm 'cause I got the message' and then restart the timing cycle that you can use reliably without looking at the device. Most of the time I find that either I've changed the time or that I didn't actually start the timer or that I've stopped it by hitting it accidentally. Or that I've messed things up when clothing bumped a button. The time set buttons need to be on a different surface from the STOP-START button and all of them need to be much less likely to be operated accidentally. If I were redesigning this I'd move STOP/START to the top and put guard bars on either side of all three buttons so accidental contact with clothing (etc.) wouldn't operate them. I think they should require more force STOP/START needs to be fingertip operable when the unit is clipped to a belt or pocket so not too much more force there but the time set buttons will be used when looking at the device and you'd be able to hold the thing on the sides while pressing them so quite a bit more force would be good. As it stands I couldn't call this satisfactory for any portable application where you'd want to restart the cycle without looking OR for any critical portable application like important medication. It would be fine on a desk, bedside table, etc.

It is not as loud as we wanted.
We set it to make sure the next dose of medicine was on time. If you are not in the same room, you will not hear it. We have a couple of other timers that do a better job. All our timers need to have hours up to 12 and this one does. The numbers are too confined to be large enough for the visually impaired.

Very good silent timer.
I use this as a timer for the pomodoro method at work. Since it's an open office I needed a silent operation. Has vibration only mode but that can be loud depending on the surface on which the timer is sitting! However the visual alarm is very good; the red flashing band across the top of the timer it is easy to see if it's in your peripheral vision. I am also glad that it takes AAA batteries and doesn't require expensive watch batteries. Another nice feature is the built-in stand which I find quite effective.

Idéal pour personnes malentendantes. Alerte mobile.
Idéal parce que mon père de 88 ans se déplace avec la minuterie dans son appartement. Le bruit + la lumière + la vibration lui signalent que son repas au four est prêt. Mieux que la minuterie de la cuisinière.

The description said that it would be good for the hearing impaired
The loudness of the timer was the problem. The description said that it would be good for the hearing impaired. It was not.
